I liked that you guys cited the conversation with Matt Dillahunty. It was simply the best vegan conversation I ever heard and demonstrated a hilarious non rational Matt Dillahunty

You two are awesome. The world needs your uncompromising, unwavering, kind, and respectful voices. I still go back and watch your recipe videos sometimes! Your potato salad has been a hit at many a potluck and nobody would ever guess that the creaminess comes from tofu. Keep up the great work!

I've dealt with intestinal problems my whole life (from an unknown birth defect that took at least 5 gastro doctors and a lot of tests to finally figure out at the age of 28). And when I went to a nutritionalist (non-vegan) because I was rapidly losing weight because eating just was difficult I told her before I made the appointment that I was vegan and I was not going to stop being vegan so if she couldn't accommodate I would find someone else. She was able to easily modify her recommendations for a vegan diet. I think if you are really into your convictions you will do everything you can to not go against your ethical stance. And I do agree that not being vegan would be easier. Wouldn't have to worry about whether a restaurant my friends want to go to has options for me. Wouldn't deal with the constant comments about my diet. But just because it is easier does not mean it is right.

Yes Ana you always look beautiful and you are both beautiful people 🥰 I have been subscribed to your channel for a long time and it has always been an inspiration to me. Got a compliment on my peas on earth pin the other day and told her about you! Sending love from wintery N.Y. state 😘

Thanks for sharing this video. At the same time that Alex stopped being vegan, so did my vegan mentor/very close friend of mine, also for the simple reason of “they just didn’t want to be vegan anymore”.

So all of these videos debunking Alex’s arguments are cathartic for how I’m feeling towards my friend, especially this video. I liked how you said that being a vegan ally (while its intentions are good, I suppose) really doesn’t mean much without action. That’s exactly how I’m feeling. It’s really rough personally knowing someone who you thought was a committed vegan for the animals for so long suddenly stop being vegan.

I loved the video, thanks a lot for sharing. I subscribed!

This is the measured response I have come to expect from you two. I am not feeling as charitable towards Alex but I agree with your take for the most part.

I am happy that you reacted this empathically. as frustrating as this whole ordeal is, I can sympathize with being unable to be vegan when batteling mental health issues. Before I went vegan, I was already convinced for several years that veganism was the right thing to do. but I was severly depressed, it was hard to even care about my own hygiene, let alone make the effort to plan a healthy vegan diet. I know there are people who can do it, I really couldn‘t. I went vegan 1 month after getting married (my carnivore husband went vegan too) because it was the happiest time in my life and I was ready to take on this change. what I need to say, my mental health improved dramatically since going vegan, because the guilt I have felt in all those years as a vegetarian just is not there anymore. 4 years vegan now, and I am sure I will never go back.
really appreciate your channel guys. all the best for you❤

I think his broadcast of “hate comments” was extremely manipulative. I watched the comments under his community post every day between posting it and his video and the overwhelming majority of comments were supportive. In fact, most of them appeared to be from vegans who were concerned about him and his health and wishing him well or giving him advice. Now I’ve been watching cosmic skeptic for a while, longer than before he did vegan lip service. So I know that he received no more hate for this video than he would have for any video disproving a Christian story. Alex has weathered more hateful criticism for far less worthy concepts without complaint for years, so I find this citation of “hate comments” after the admission that he has been knowingly paying for murder hollow and I don’t sympathize. Its never been easier to be vegan in a first world country no matter your dietary needs. In fact, many of the things that trigger IBS are animal products. Ultimately, it comes down to what Alex said in his Mikhailia Peterson interview: he likes eating animals and it’s annoying to exclude eating them. Extraordinary suffering requires extraordinary justification and he doesn’t have a justification, let alone an extraordinary one. Just a really pathetic excuse and some blatantly transparent manipulation. And I’ve struggled with many health issues while being vegan. For the better part of a decade, I was severely anorexic so I know what it’s like to go for days with no calories. But any sympathy I may have had for Alex went straight out the window when he made the video all about how hard it was to receive the same amount of hate comments he has always gotten (except this time it’s for animal cruelty not a religious disagreement) and never once mentioned any regret or sorrow over the suffering he has caused. Saying “seafood” when referring to the individual fish he has murdered. Nope. Sorry alex, but the only sob story I have any sympathy for is your victims, not you.

It's easier for me punch people when they upset me rather than settling down my emotions too. Doesn't justify it Alex. 🥴

The word "Vegan" is Matt Dillahunty's kryptonite.

I truly appreciate your guys' video. you eloquently went through Alex's points and stated your opinions with out resorting to calling him names (as you stressed at the end of your video). It makes me so sad to see the name calling other vegans are doing in this situation. you both are a perfect example of vocally disagreeing with someone's actions, while displaying dignity for both parties involved.

Hello, I've randomly been recommended with your video. I think you and Joey made a wrong assumption regarding IBS. While it is true that IBS does not originates from a vegan diet, it can be way more problematic with it. I have IBS so I'm not just saying this, when it comes to protein especially, trigger foods are far more common in plants than meat. I'm almost certain that there are no people with IBS who would have issues from say chicken meat. This is due to the fact that IBS tends to come out more from fiber, (I think fat/oil is a trigger for me, not sure about others), and also very importantly, from high volume of foods. With IBS it's best to eat in small portions which is harder on a vegan diet. I'm a vegan and I'll try to be as long as I can but I have the comfort of suffering from IBS home because I work from home.

As for Stephen's defense, I think it's perfectly fine from a close friend to defend you from what immense hate Alex got, I do not like the way Alex approached this whole topic, and I do understand some of the disappointment and even anger but it's definitely (as you say too) not the way to handle it. Stephen is a vegetarian according to my knowledge which is already probably 10x better than the rest of the world, let's not attack such person and their actions as a friend to Alex... it's not nice, especially in such way ~"of course a non-vegan will try to defend someone who goes back on veganism". That was not it at all (at least in my opinion). Yes I know that exploiting animals is not nice either... but Alex and Stephen definitely shouldn't become outright hated because of this. I hope Alex does more to go back towards plant based, and if not, then consume as small amount of animal products as possible but it is what it is.

we like your take on Alex's announcement that he's no longer vegan. In the end, while he could have been a great asset to the movement, his not being vegan shouldn't affect us personally. We need to remain compassionate, not just to the non human animals, but to our fellow human animals. 💚
