Hi Karol, thanks for your comment. A recent research project funded by the USDA at NM State University, concluded that there is more risk of cross-contamination when you rinse a chicken than when cooking a chicken you have not rinsed. Start with a fresh, quality chicken, store it properly, & cook it to an internal temperature of 165 degrees F (75 degrees C), to kill any unwanted bacteria. The study found that rinsing a chicken can spray bacteria around kitchen surfaces. Hope this helps!

Great question! You could certainly save the cooked vegetables. Try pureeing them with a little bit of stock and using it as a great thickener for soups, chili or sauces. Give this stock a try!

That's really interesting. I've always had a habit of pouring boiling hot water all over my sink after washing raw chicken, especially if I'm planning on rinsing something else soon after. I've found it helpful to hold it quite far below the tab head also so nothing splashes upwards !. Thanks for the video, I'm changing my diet quite drastically currently due to health problems and this is a great help.

Yep ... you can freeze stock in ice cube trays. Also pressure can it in pint or quart jars for longer shelf life.

@lycheesack For 2 pounds of chicken parts you should add roughly 12 US cups of water or 2, 800ml. You can find lots of stock recipes with exact measurements by following the link in the video description, good luck!

Quick tips for anyone who’s making this

Roast the chicken parts in a oven for 30 to 45 minutes at 350 degrees

Sear the veggies in the pot before adding else

Add some herbs like thyme, sage, or rosemary

And don’t bother saving the meat if you did a halfway decent job all the should have gone into the stock and the meat would taste like nothing so it’s better to throw it out

Do not listen to this video when it comes to how much water to add! If you are making stock, add enough water to just cover the chicken half way. Not enough to cover all the chicken and all the vegetables! If you add too much water, it will not have enough flavor. Water is not your friend in the kitchen. Be cautious.

After boiling you must skim first then simmer for about 1;30-2hrs

I love this channel because it clearly demonstrates why YouTube is becoming the chosen method for all sorts of How-To videos. Notice how unpopular this channel is compared to Chef John's Food Wishes? It is irritating that this is narrated with stock-enthusiasm. YouTube is great for the REAL people who talk to you as if you're right in front of them. Thumbs down for the TV-like narration.

Thanks for the tutorial, I am sure there are  many variations of making chicken stock as I have read in the comments. However, this is a nice tutorial, thanks again.
