The defenders of the besieged Ukrainian port of Mariupol are warning the city could fall within days, if not hours. As Russia presses its offensive across eastern Ukraine, Ukrainian troops holed up in Mariupol have defied a Russian deadline to surrender. Efforts are underway to open a humanitarian corridor to allow civilians to leave.

It feels like we have been hearing that Mariupol is about to fall in the next few hours for the last few weeks. I wish that we could do more.

When they offered for the soldiers to surrender why didn’t the civilians leave then? I’m not at for Russia but I don’t think the Ukrainian soldiers there stand a chance, I think Putin is about to hit them with everything they have.

This whole situation with the last ukrainian troops holding up in the Azovstal plant really resembles a lot the defense of sihang warehouse in the battle of shanghai 1937, where 500 chinese soldiers were surounded by a huge invading japanese army. Some historians call that battle the beginning of WWII. I really hope the similarities end there.
