My girl is a beast. She’s European and a force to be reckoned with. With a 600lb bite force they’re an amazing working dog. Americans have diluted them to be show dogs instead of what they were made to be.

These are my heart breed and I've worked with a few as a dog trainer, and I'm finally ready to welcome one for myself. My current service dog is old enough that he would retire by the time the new one is trained, so I'm finally taking the plunge because I finally have the facilities and experience to keep up with this phenomenal breed.

I like to say a devoted Dobe is like a sharpened knife, always ready to do what's asked but can be dangerous in inexperienced hands. They have that perception that can read commands from body language and are capable of anything their handler asks of them. Not always great for families and almost never for inexperienced owners, in the hands of someone who loves training and wants that top-tier perfect obedience, they are IMHO the absolute champions

I have had 5 Dobies. The wee tutorial is quite accurate. I wouldn't have any other dog. Just remember, every breed is different, and everyone's preference is different. The most regal looking dog, when fully cropped.

I like the breed because they never get out of sight. Even hiking in the woods with 3 of them, they never run off. And in the case of mine, call one and all three come. Loved that about them. There is always dogs from the hunting breeds here lost. Sometimes, never found. It would tear me apart to have one of my “guys” gone.

Health issues? That’s not true, they are very healthy dogs. That does not mean they can’t suffer sometimes but relatively healthier than many other dogs.
