Malinois VS Doberman

I have a European working line Dobe and he is 93 lbs. He is ok being at home by himself while I'm at work, but he is very needy in general. He wouldn't leave me alone when I'm at home. He follows me around, sits at my feet, wants to play, be petted, asks for constant interaction. Malinois is a GSD on crack cocaine. It needs a lot of activity. The only people I ever met who owned a Malinois were either in law enforcement or they were involved in protection dog sports. This type of dog is not suited for an average dog person. A Doberman can get away with just being a pet if you get an American dobe. European working lines, like my dobe, are better for active homes who do dog sports.

I train both my dogs for guard work and i was walking the other day and a guy came up behind me and My Doberman lunged for him while my Belgian Malinois waited for command.

Malinois have complications around: children, grandchildren and too energetic for most grandparents.... Dobermans do better...

Dobermans are faster at 32-35 mph than malinois at 30 mph, and they bite harder at 229-305 psi than a malinois at 195 psi, dobermans also are more likely to bite in rapidly, causing more damage than just biting and holding on, as far as protection, dobermans are the only breed specifically created for personal protection, the only reason they aren't used more now (emphasis on now, because they were used a lot by marines in WWII) in the military is because they lack the undercoat and do not change handlers well, a malinois at the end of the day was created as a herding dog and livestock guardian, not to protect humans, so they are not as owner focused making them harder to train and a fight for dominance, but because dobermans are very owner focused they'll actually heavily pick up on your mood as well as other things, there's a story about a lady's doberman finding a 1 in like 20 million match for a kidney that she needed, this video didn't acknowledge most of these facts

Had them both, but it's not even close overall. Mal only has slightly more energy. European Doberman is better at almost everything, I can't think of single disadvantage

70 lb? My European Doberman is slightly over 100 lb on a good raw diet

Both are great but dobermans are a lot easier to work with and take care of for normal people.

I own two American dobies. I’m by no means a dog trainer and they literally learn commands within 5 to 10 repetitions. My dobies are very well mannered and have never chewed on any of my furniture.. (although they do have a thing for sandals)… they are also super clingy. 😂

Both are excellent breeds.
I have been going back and forth at choosing which one. It’s our life styles that determine what dog to choose, and commitment to train and spend quality time with.
My first choice would be the Malinois, yet for my life style I’m getting a Doberman.

The Malinois has to be told what to do, the Doberman knows what to do. In my opinion, and forty years of raising Dobermans, they just perform better.

I’ve had a Dutch and a Belgium malinous. They are cuddly and very loving. Mine have been wonderful. I couldn’t ask for better dogs. I don’t have all this negativity that you say about the malinous. I must be very blessed and I trained them myself. I’m an old lady of 64.
