Thank you - I’m working on my own game in Unity, and this has given me a great head start. Cheers!

@IIoWoII Some static meshes come with UDK, not a lot. Original meshes need to be created in a 3d app and imported.

This is great stuff! The issue I have is getting Max models and textures into an engine (like unreal) and testing the level. I tried doing this years ago but it was so cumbersome and buggy I gave up.

Thank you so much for this guide, whenever I made maps I used to create what I thought up the top of my head and built up on that. Would this guide apply to surrealistic type maps?

- piece it all together. (i use my game creation program, Gamemaker. but i wont use it until the next version comes out, because then they'll have 3d level creation abilities. it will probably take me that long to get to this step anyways (im working something big.))
- code in the lights where desired.
- apply visual filters when and where appropriate.

@GenAnxiety Thanks. The workflow is a lot better now. I'll be releasing some tutorials on this soon, although I'll be using Maya, I believe it will help you with Max as well.

I need help,
Ive been on Day 1 for more than a month.
I'm slow with the idea and planning process because my ideas come slow and I want my idea/plan to be perfect before I start.
How do I speed up the idea process?

- UV map then texture all game objects (i use wings 3D for UV mapping. but for textures, i use either my camera, or royalty-free images)
- model the level(s) then map and texture them (the level(s) contains no game objects, this way, you can pay full attention to just the level layout without concerning yourself with objects. i realize that this is what you guys use sketching for but i cant sketch, and a 2D canvas only goes so far)

Where do you get the static meshes? You make them yourself?
