Another thing that's fun is to put points into Parkour or otherwise into anything to improve mobility, drink Megacrushes and run all over the place. You need Parkour so you can jump up on to fences and walls outside to take breaks to reload or apply meds. Just running around in circles will confuse them and about half will start beating on blocks. I call that a Megacrush base.

That clickbait title.... Devs never hid it. It was the same logic in the older versions in 2017. They would even dig to you. The beauty of the game has always been choices on handling situations your way.

I personally liked A16 best, the zombies were totally dumb and followed you around. If you stood on a roof like you did on that gas station they would follow you around below like in a proper zombie movie. You were able to lead them through the traps and didn't have to worry about them being structural engineers, calculating the weakest block in your wall to get to you.

I’m on Navezgane duoing with my wife and we took over Me Maws down from Rekt. We are on day 56 and the horde hasn’t breached the front door once. No traps, no turrets, no cheese bases, mostly using melee too. The demos aren’t bad if you don’t panic and target them properly. The horde has been nerfed significantly by TFP over the years.

I have been playing 7DtD for years. Before it even came to steam. I absolutely love your fresh and technical look into the game.

You can just tread water at the deepest part of the lake and shoot down at the horde under the water, then dive down and collect bags when the night is over. But what's the fun in that? The most fun to me is designing new "murder holes" after every couple blood moons, trying to figure out my own newer and better designs.

I'd like to argue that most people probably won't use the lowest amount of zombies alive at the same time setting. Never seen this few zombies during a horde night before. Me and my friend got 2 dire wolves for our first horde night.

I play insane 64 zombies, a 'sturdy' POI ain't gonna cut it for me lmao

The fact that there is no real advantage to building a horde base is one of my biggest gripes. I know plenty of POIs where you only need to clear 2 or 3 blocks to be safe and have a platform to shoot at the zombies and throw molotovs or pipe bombs.

I love building and the fact that the developers see it as purely cosmetic and not as part of the survival is very depressing.

Most people find out organically on their first few horde nights a good chunk of what you have said in this video. The rest they figure out by their 5th horde night :)

Converting a POI is making a horde base. If you want to not interact with Bloodmoon hordes then simply set to no horde night at start of a playthrough.

As a veteran player I agree, horde bases aren't necessary. They're only real purpose is to make grinding the xp from horde night easier.

I worked this out on my first horde night. My second I shot a bunch with the bow and I noticed more showed up in there place

Of course this would work w the default 8 zombie horde! Ramp the difficulty up and max out the horde and see what happens.

My only quibble about this is only playing with 8 zombies alive. That isn't really a horde, is it? Do the exact same thing with only 32 alive, and watch that gas station fall. And playing co op with only one other person can double your zed numbers. They set the base game settings for total newbies to make it easy enough to get hooked, but that really isn't how it needs to be played for a horde survival challenge.

You don´t need to craft Tier 6 Stuff cause you will get them out of the infested box when you do a Tier 6 infestation ;D

My husband and I got ourselves stranded in wastelands, far from our base where all our horde night stockpiles are. We did the whole "Oh 💩" and scrambled to the closest house. He made it to the roof, I couldn't get there, so ran inside, up the stairs, took out the stairs while killing the resident zombies, and realized the house's 2nd floor had a balcony overlooking the living room on on side, kitchen on the other. My husband had made it in the where I was and we just sat up there picking them off. When all was said and done, the house was practically being held up by 2 walls. Thank goodness structural integrity doesn't count.

Also, for Fortitude specialist, once you reach a certain point, and have the right amount of beer & health bars & fortbites, you can just take on the horde in the open street. You don't fear the horde, the horde fears you.
For Agility specialist, you also don't need a horde base. Just a playground of separate concrete pillars you can hop atop with parkour. As soon as the zeds gather round your current pillar, hop off and go to the next as you fight. Super easy to stay out of their reach and frag em at your leisure.
Perception, Strength, and Intelligence seem to be the most reliant on a horde base... but each has their own approach at bases to exploit their skillset and weaponry.

I play with hordes on but I build so I don't have to fight them. I try to play as "realistic " as I can. My thinking is that in real life if the world was taken over by zombies I would rather avoid them than fight them. In a zombie apocalypse I'm not going to put my life on the line for experience. But everyone has their own way of playing, that's just my way.

Dude I used your guide to build my base and the first house I found for it is the one you featured here! Pretty good spot tbh 😆
