I bet Omni-Man was silently hoping his son wouldn’t get powers so he could outlive the people he loved (his son and wife), and then take over the world once they died.

This is another scene that just shows how much Nolan actually did care. He was hoping that he didn’t get his power so that he wouldn’t have to move on with the plan and kill the guardians or anyone in that lifetime. Even though he said “they were weak” he truly did care for them and just said that as a way to hide what he truly felt, he had been lying to himself by putting himself through the mindset that the planet and everyone was weak, but he did actually care, even in the comics he admits that he loved debi like his actual wife

Omni Mans plan was to outlive his family before starting to conquer earth. Mark discovering his powers made this pointless so he moved on and killed the Guardians.

Omni man definitely wouldve lived the whole span of his familys life without invading the planet if Mark never got his powers

Everyone's talking about Nolan's reaction to Mark getting his powers, but no-one's talking about Debbie's cat like reflexes catching the wineglass when her husband comes whooshing in at 1:05

The musical score sets up Nolan’s true emotions so perfectly. Dead silence during the reveal and then a subtle but noticeable tap of the drum as Nolan asks “Are you sure?” It meant the start and end of a few things. The start of Nolan’s next phase in his plan to conquer earth and the end of his normal life with his family and the lives of the Guardians of the Globe. It’s almost like you can hear the disappointment in Nolan’s voice. Like he was just starting to get comfortable with his life and then Mark dropped that bombshell

1:18 One subtle detail that I noticed was that right when Mark reveals his powers to Nolan, Nolan raises his eyebrows a bit. But his expression isn’t really one of surprise and overjoy, it’s one of fear and realization. Nolan couldn’t just wait till his family died in order to take over earth, he had to do it now. Problem is that he had already gained so many friends and family on Earth, it was going to be incredibly difficult to do so.

Omni Man reacted that way because his plan to conquer Earth would enter its next phase (killing the Guardians) which also meant the end of this life he created. He clearly planned out outliving his family before all those occurred, but since Mark got his powers (which Omni man said he wish didn’t happen), he is also a potential threat to the conquest. That’s also why Omni Man pushed Mark really hard on the first day and always said he has a responsibility to Viltrum, as he was trying to convince Mark to help him.
