Pop-up lights in the 80's were ALWAYS broken. It was more rare to see them work, even in the 80s.

Pop up headlight are always cool. Wish they still put them on cars. My first pop lights was a 89 accord. A great car too

You can also replace the gears with brass ones so it won’t fail again.

Chevrolet engineering a fix instead of preventing the problem from happening is such a GM thing to do

daily drove an 84 Trans Am as a kid... I HOARDED parts for those headlight motors and rebuilt them all of the time!

They really don’t break that often and extremely easy to service, especially compared to every other vehicle with pop ups.

My first car was a 1978 25th anniversary Corvette. It had vacuum cans that operated the flip up headlights. It was a little pull down knob under the dash. I miss that car...

I had a 94’ C4. Its was my first car, barn find. Got it when I was 15 and restored it myself and sold it. I’ve been an automotive maniac since then and this started it all. Will never forget my C4.

Erm, ackshually it's 162.5 degrees of rotation about its axis. ☝️🤓

A lot of WWII aircraft had a similar feature for the landing gear in case the hydraulics were shot out. And some lightweight early-war planes like the F4F Wildcat *only* had the crank.

My pop up headlights on fiero had the same features... but they never failed. ❤

Easy fix, just add a couple electric motors to those manual knobs and wire it to an aux switch on the dash

The coolest thing about a 1980s Corvette is you don't have to own one.

I don't see much Corvettes in pewter gray paint that often

The craziest thing about my 96 WS6 is the headlights both work fine and have for the 14 years I've owned it.
Hatch stays up and power antenna works too.
