1.Go into the specialty you want right out of school. U don't have to do med-surg first.

2. Avoid friending current coworkers on social media, some nurses can be very catty and messy!

3. Don't compare your new experience as a nurse to other nurses multiple years of experience..

4. If u call out "sick", don't post that you are in Aruba, Paris, etc 😄🤣. This one nurse did that and ended up getting fired. Be smart!!.. there is so much more I can't think of right now...

I’m the same way at work! I just come in to do my job and of course I am friendly too, but I am not focused on being friends with everyone or joining any drama.

I literally did a Nurse Nook marathon and watched all your videos from your first to your most recents. They really inspire me to better myself and that hard times only help you grow and prosper

Working in healthcare for 16 years and that’s the best thing I could tell you is stay out of the drama and keep your private life to yourself...you will run across so many different personalities in your career, good and bad, and some people like to stir the 💩...

I always fear a new grad that isn’t nervous, many of those nurses didn’t make it off orientation. Nerves are good they make you pay attention and be safe !

New grad ER nurse here 🙋🏻‍♀️ I’ve been in the ER for 6 months now and it’s been insane. I agree that starting in the ER has taught me so much! I don’t know if I’ll stay there for the long run because I don’t know if I can keep up the pace without burning out. Another thing I hate is the fast turn over. You really don’t get a chance to spend time with patients because it’s either ok are they sick enough to get admitted? Then get them upstairs ASAP. Not sick enough? Get them discharged ASAP. But I am so grateful for the experience I’ve already gained!

Been an ER nurse for 12 years now, precepted many new grad nurses especially now during/after the pandemic & with the recent increase of new grads entering the ER. I absolutely love your videos! They are so genuine and true to how it actually can feel for someone entering into a very critical and busy area of care for the first time. Many of them come with the same lack of previous experience initially. Just wanted to say that it’s so appreciated to me that you’re trying to reach these new nurses in this way. This job is so hard! And we tend to forget that teaching it can also be so hard. The environment, we as preceptors (good ones anyways) we try to create a space that allows for growth. It’s hard to find good preceptors as well, who will give what they have to another nurse without their personalities or past experience inhibiting their learning. I so hope I’m doing a good job with the ones I have now, and the ones I have had before. Hearing your input helps not only the newer nurses but also myself to remember again that even though we may not know something or be experienced in something that we’re 100% never alone. And there’s always room to learn. Nursing is a constant learning opportunity. Especially in ED, some stuff can roll through the door & even us experienced nurses could be like um WT…… I just love your message & I have used it to remind my orientees and colleagues too, that it can and does get better. & it always does :) we are an awesome group of people. Unlike any other. Thanks for being a young voice to all these baby nurses especially in the ED who probably look at us like um.. ya’ll crazy lol. You’re a beautiful and strong girl. I’m sharing your experiences on your channel to all my ER orientees. Take care of you 🩺

I’m 4 months in and I have to literally force myself to gather up the courage to ask questions but I have to because lives are in my hands. My goal is to get better with my IVs as well and give better care instead of being task oriented. Every shift is a learning experience and like wine we get better with time!

I related to this video so much!!! I am 6 months into my nursing career and you hit everything on the dot. The biggest thing I think I struggle with like you said, is feeling inferior. We must push on!!!
