When the offensive in Kursk happened, I remember all the media parroting about "russian embarassment". Back then I said everywhere I wrote comments, that embarassment is not a military gain, and that true military does not have CONCEPT of being embarassed. It's a machiene which task is to engage, supress and kill the enemy, and it will do so, and no amount of smearing and bickering in newspapers will change that. Nobody will die from cringe in all of this. When the news reached the land, russian people, instead of revolting, panicking and demanding Putin to leave office, which the West would so love to see and hear, started self-organizing and sending money to help those displaced civilians in the Kursk oblast, to supply them with food, medication, clothing. Russian population supported Putin in the election, and this latest incursion unites overwhelming majority of people in desire for a decisive move to end this all, to get it over with, even if it means flattening Ukraine entirely from the river to the Polish border. Putin, in that regard, is the calmest person in the entire country, because he is a visioner, and is not a sort of person to provide knee-jerk reaction to the events, because such behavior is a speedrun path for the enemy to hijack your decision-making cycle.
