Thank you! You addressed the exact questions and concerns I had regarding taking this course. I’m a hands on learner and I do need interaction with a teacher at times with some things. Also, the fact you stated that if I were to leave the US other places would be looking for the Comp TIA training, not Google certification at this time. I guess I better start looking into someplace to help me with Comp TIA training and certification now.

It is useful, but you will get jr IT jobs. Usually with a salary $40k to $55k. After 2 years of good experience, then you can get a significant jump in pay ($70k to $90k). If you add GCP or AWS certification, your salary after 2 years of good experience jumps to $100k+.

thank you for the video on this. I'm trying to get a grasp on what I want to do in the IT field and was close to purchasing something like this; you provided a lot of good information on why I should find a more well rounded course.

I started studying dev ops last year with no experience. I checked out Harvard CS 50 course, freecodecamp and mimo. All were very helpful and free! I am now taking the google certificate course. I am in the 3rd module after only 3 weeks. I would say I have a little more than beginner experience as Ive already done projects with VScode and learned JavaScript Fundamentals. This course is not structured well. It covers too much without giving practical application. My friend who is a total beginner is struggling. They jump around on topics so its hard to retain the knowledge. Ive had to seek outside turorials to understand the concepts. Going from Powershell commands to Linux in 2 minutes is really confusing. Now I know I can easily learn the concepts on my own but they really just throw too much at you for a newb. I am studying for Comptia A+ afterwards. I view this as a good practice before studying. Thank you for the honest review !

Google IT Support specialization on Coursera only serves as a learning resource for CompTIA A+. It may get you a job but not because of the certification, but because of the skills you've acquired if you studied hard and actually put in practice what you were taught, like taking apart a PC or laptop, took a lot of notes, read the extra content, and so on.

I completed this certification within the 7 day free-period Coursera offered. Writing A+ Core 1 next week, then hopefully finish Core 2 on the 1st of September. Along with my customer service experience, I think adding the Google cert on my CV might get me some type of entry level into IT. Then again I don't know much about how IT recruiters look at things

I think the courseware is really good for the price. I have a few of my kids going through this just to open their eyes on what they can potentially do in an IT profession. This would let me gage if this is something that these teenagers would pursuit more seriously before getting them to start additional courses in the field of IT. Like any IT sub field, one does not really learn till in the trenches, but as a start, it is a good program. Now, I imagine that CompTIA A+ would be better in terms of credentials, but then again A+ the core of CompTIA certs.

I had an A+ in 2016 since expired and want to get back into IT. IM GONNA TAJE THIS TO BRUSH UP, get the a+ again for WGU then take the cybersecurity cert. But i dont want to take all year. I spent 2 years learning how to code then almost all of 2023 trying to find a job

Your arguments are very solids, and I agree with you. Considering this what would be the best certification to obtain as a newbie in the IT world? Thanks in advance.

As a Latina woman, looking for part time remote work… I’m thinking of doing this course so I can get a super entry level IT job from home 👍

so many interesting courses on coursera, but many of us try to confine ourselves to learning something that will help us get a job or complete a project of interest. I'd love to take either the google IT or the tensorflow courses.

I believe IT support will give you more boost to do comptia certifications as a beginner.

Thank you so much for the excellent review. What online course would you recommend for prepping for A+ certification? I haven’t been able to find a good one. Thank you in advance.

I worked alongside IT guys a few years ago. They had comptia, but they had so many customers that they wouldn't spend more than 20 minutes fixing a laptop. More than that and they'd just backup the laptop and reimage the laptop or give the user a new laptop.

Detailed decryption of this certificate. If its not recognized then its not worth it.
