Honestly this helped me out, I was realizing that while I was getting the college algebra the word problems have been rough going so I sat down and thought what could I do so I went to my friend Mr. YouTube and looked up ways to help with word problems. Moral of the story kids is if you don't grasp things don't panic instead look for solutions.

hello! i’m a senior in high school and am about to graduate, but i first need to take my GAT and SAAT exams (the saudi exams needed to go to university.) math became one of my weaknesses since i skipped algebra 2 and jumped to pre-calculus, and dealt with a math teacher that only gave easy questions in tests to have us all pass. while i appreciate her helping us with our marks, my math skills worsened. now that i’m trying to relearn algebra 1, i’ve realized i’m quite bad with simple word problems, which is quite embarrassing for a senior... but your video helped out a lot! what i’m trying to say is i’m very grateful for this video, so thank you for providing struggling students all around the world with all this educational content you put out here for free! :)

Wish I had known these when I was a kid, I hated story problems in math. But they are still helpful. Even today. Doing something you •can* do, and knowing *how* to start gets rid of the stress and the "I don't know what to do" factor, so thank you.

Guess, check & Revise is a bad approach. It could be confusing. what about this? Emily has X Cards. So Sally would have 4*X = 4X cards. As given - X + 4X = 90 => 5X = 90 => X=18. Hence Sally has 4*18 = 72 Cards.

Hey Mr. Jacobson! Long time no see! I think from studying for Olympiads some strategies I might think might be a good influence for students later on is: Looking at smaller cases, looking for invariants (mono-variants), and learning the motivation behind problems. :)
