100% correct the bottom of your swing needs to be in front of the golf ball, that’s what the better players do. They always know where the bottom is and it’s always in front of the ball.

I’m a huge fan of Tom Watson, having started back in the 1980s with his book “Getting Up and Down from 40 yards and in” and also reading his “TImeless swing, but this advice is somewhat confusing. Yes you want to finish as he suggests but watch his actual swing at the end. Better yet screen grab it and view frame by frame watching clubhead, hands and back foot. What allows the hips to turn and legs to touch in the finish is allowing the back heel to come off the ground then turn on the toe, but that needs to occur through impact just as the ball releases off the face of the club. The swing and weight shift should feel similar to throwing a stone across a pond side arm. On the way down you load the back foot and it is the flinging of the mass of the trail arm out straight at the target at the same time the back foot lifts, plus the mass of the lead arm flying off the chest dragging the club past the ball which creates the weight shift and hip/shoulder turn in the finish.

True, but how to get to that position at full speed is the hard part

This is old truth! Whenever I missed clean contact shot, I just try to lean one knee to another and do not care about hands etc. Just check out Tommy Fleetwood style, he literally does this all the time.

For my swing, the front knee has to move in concert with my hands going back. Then, everything finishes properly with a very good turn.

Great suggestion. At the end of my swing I feel like a girl needing to... Forgive my humor and political incorrectness. Older people will understand. Cheers 😃👍⛳️🥂
