As an American who doesn’t speak French, the first five times I watched this I wept, Without knowing her health issues. The sixth time I listened I cried like an infant. It’s single-handedly one of the greatest performances I’ve ever watched. Just beautifully done.

This was her first appearance on such a huge stage with this orchestra and with 12, 500 people in front of her. She did 12 performances in two weeks there. During the rehearsals every time the orchestra was in tears and completely blown away by her singing. This year she is on tour all over the world with Andre Rieu and his orchestra.

They are on a world tour now and Emma is collecting standing ovations. Emma you are a Grand Little Lady and the world loves you.

I've been trying to understand how this song has such an effect on me since I don't know French and I am a 40 year old tough guy, and she made me cry.

Discovered this a few days ago. Listened many times. Brings tears to my eyes every time. A wise old piano teacher once said, "if it gives goosebumps it good....if it brings tears of joy, it is blessed ".

When you paused for a bit talking about the audience .. there was a young woman and man centered. You see them again at the end standing next to Emma's brother Enzo (Violinist). That's Emma's older sister Sophie (Classical Singer) and father (Vico). Her mother Nathalie was backstage with the machine Emma needs to hook her back up .. Emma can be off the machine for something like two hours. She said she feels free during that time. Emma doesn't speak French (at least at the time) and learned the song phonetically.

This angel, Emma, breaks your hart into a million pieces. Even without speaking French, but when I read the text of the song in English, I couldn’t stop crying, I couldn’t breathe…
All the blessings to this young special lady.

André Rieu and his Johann Strauss Orchestra has always invited young emerging artists to his concerts. Emma just won Netherland's The Voice Kids in 2021. Her story is heartbreaking, but she has so much talent and hopefully, someday, the cure of her sickness can be found.

Emma is an inspiration. To radiate so much heart and soul but also joie de vivre with her serious incurable illness is an inspiration. She shows the world that you can make a difference if you want to. I pray for Emma that one day it will be possible to cure her. I've listened to her what feels like 200 times now and it still brings tears to my eyes at the age of 61. Emma God bless you🙏

About the orkestra giving a standing ovation, it was the first performance of emma but they had to practice several times so they could play this without tearing up during the song.

The audience you paused on at 07:02 is actually Emma’s sister and dad, her brother sits on the other side of dad. Her mother was backstage helping her.

Ah, my favorite silly lady reacts to the phenomenal Emma, this will be good. (yes, in before watching the video)
Emma is on track to become of the the greats i feel, to be this charismatic, commanding the stage and audience, and having so much emotion and control at that young age, can only lead to massive fame, it has to.
And you as a singer know, that this level is not reached with talent alone, i can only imagine the 1000's and 1000's of hours of practice this young lady already has under her belt.
In advance, a big thank you for reacting to her, and if you have the chance to see Andre Rieu live in concert, get tickets because it will be an experience of a lifetime.
Also, the current world tour he does, he has Emma with him as well, but everyone he took with him is extraordinary in their skills of the instruments they master, vocalists and instrumentalists alike, his orchestra is honestly one of the best in the world.
Edit* i expected tears and emotions, and.. there we have them, you warm my heart Rebecca :)
Edit edit* when you watch this again (i know you will) check out how Andre conducts his orchestra, he does something no directors/conductors do, he lets Emma lead the song and has his orchestra follow her, not the usual other way around.

I’ve been absolutely OBSESSED with this performance for the since it first appeared on YouTube! I couldn’t believe how emotional this made me! Especially knowing her illness she deals with… gastroparesis! She’s connected to a feeding tube @ 20 hrs a day. She connected with this song as she has come to terms with this illness & “viola!” -she’s going to live life in spite of it! This is what i heard her say in an interview! Fun fact- she does not speak a lick of French! She worked with a dialect coach & learned how to connect & immerse herself into the words & phrasing! It gives chills! By looks of the audience, they FELT that electricity that she emits via this gorgeous song! Magnifique!✨💞
