Here comes a tiny young lady, relatively unknown, she suffers from a terrible disease, its her very first time before a huge crowd of 22555 people. A giant world famous conductor beside you and a world class orchestra behind you. There she is, a small black figure, hardly visible from the crowd. She takes her bow, starts to sing and....literally commands the stage ! She just makes you transfixed, jaws dropped, and after leaves you in wonder of what you've just witnessed. She smiles, gives a hug, says 'thank you' in the cutest way and disappears. But André knows when an Artist deserves a second round of applause.

I read an article of an interview with Andre about this performance, he said rehearsals for this performance were difficult because members of his orchestra (who are all obviously very disciplined) kept getting emotional when she was singing during rehearsals with such passion and perfection.

Just some additional info to point out how incredibly brave this 15 years old Emma Kok is:
- Two foodpumps are connected
- The pumps are with her 22/24 hours
- She was bullied at school

The audience (appr. 12.000 heads) is mainly Dutch 🇳🇱, but also from Belgium 🇧🇪, Germany 🇩🇪, Luxembourg and France 🇫🇷. Part of the audience does speak French and knows exactly what Emma is singing. This makes it even more emotional.

Indeed, I may have listened to this performance 100 times already, and have stopped counting all the responses (100 and more) But each time I was NOT concerned with her illness, but with how she makes it clear, accept me as I am. This is me, and nothing else. How she is in her young life. With all the emotions she has already experienced. (According to her mother, high and deep valleys.) This beautiful voice, full of emotions. What still touches me after all these times is that Emma changes from a professional singer to a child immediately after singing. Both as an expression in her face, and how she thanks André Rieu in that childish way. Saying dank u wel ( thank you) That is perhaps what I find most impressive!!

She is so special because she doesn't simply sing the song...she performs it, she tells the story, she draws you into what she's telling you. I love how she changes the strength she uses very specifically at different points in her storytelling - sometimes airy and light, sometimes powerful and emphatic...such a beautiful touch.

A girl cried out her pain to the world. Thanks to Andre Rieu for giving her this great performance. She is a gifted artist. Not only does she have a beautiful voice, she is also able to put all her feelings into a song and share them with the audience. This was already the second Dutch superstar, after the 10-year-old Amira Willighagen, that Andre Rieu presented on this stage and whose video moved millions of people to tears. Not out of pity, but because people could really empathise and were presented with two really great talents.

I agree with most everything you said. As far as her timing, she is leading everyone else. Just like that first note. She walks on stage, does her curtsy, then sings the first few notes before the orchestra comes in. She is leading everyone else. This is why you need such a great conductor like André. He watched every move she made and kept the orchestra in time with HER. And that first round of VIOLA’s, it was more quiet and sensitive. It was to be as she sang it. One thing she does better than most, even at her young 15 years of age, is she does not demand, but she commands attention. She cannot help it. Not one person in that audience was speaking to another. All eyes were on Emma, and for every single note.

Just a note, she has had this disease since birth. They officially diagnosed it when she was 11. The. She goes and wins the voice kids a year later. Because of her earring issues over many years and the Dr’s not knowing what was going on, she grew much slower than everyone else. She was bullied as a child. Right now, on this stage, she looks short, but is wearing 5” heels. Emma, at age 15 is the same height as the average 7 year old. She is short. She is mature and very intelligent. Smart young woman. With a golden voice. I am glad I lived long enough to know it.
