Fujifilm X-T2 Review (read description)

UPDATE: Re: 6:00, the consensus is the 90mm f/2 is another great portrait lens. We (and many others) had issues with focusing, but other people report that it's fast, so maybe there are manufacturing variations. Re: the crashing, it was related to a memory card incompatibility while shooting portraits with a continuous shutter. It only happens when we use two different memory cards and write to both simultaneously. Each card works individually without problem. The Sony cards shown in the B-roll are NOT the same cards that caused it to crash; the Sony cards work fine. We are using the latest batteries (apparently using X-T1 batteries will also cause the X-T2 to crash). I presume Fuji will fix both these issues with a firmware update; they're good that way.

Excellent review! I am a Fuji X-T1 user and absolutely love it. The X-T2 essentially fixes every issue I have with the X-T1 (duel memory slots being the biggest). Even though Fuji still doesn't have the biggest lens selection in the world, they do have a great selection. Their selection of small, fast primes was the tipping point in my decision to switch from a Nikon D750 to Fuji (the 35mm f/2 and 56mm 1.2 being my favorite). In my opinion, if you are a prime lens user, you will LOVE Fuji's options. Great review guys! Your videos are always fun and informative!

Nice video guys. I love the fact you have hands-on experience of using the kit and pass on good and unbiased comments. Definitely one of my favourite review sites.

The 90mm f2 is one of the fastest AF lenses for fuji.

Always like the Northrup videos. Well-researched, plainly spoken, points made clearly, easy to watch. I also like their interplay.

And Tony I´ve got one thing to say.
Since your video about crop factor
you are the most credible video maker for me.

Please remain as critical and honest as you are.
Big Thumb up and Greetings from Austria.

Tony and Chelsea I just received my X-T2 yesterday and so far I will agree that it maybe the best functional camera I have owned to date. The 4K video is what sealed the deal for me. Thanks for the preview and update videos.

I have heard from my friends, who own the XT2, about the short battery life on this camera as well as the Fuji Xpro2 however, none of the online reviewers ever mentions it. Thanks for your sincere review.

This is hands down the best review I've seen after watching loads and knowing the camera well. I totally agree with everything said. I love that you also get to the point without waffling on.

Tony
56mm is slow focus, 90mm F2 is the fast one. It has Quad Linear AF motor. It's their best lens. Best sharpness, Best Bokeh and Fast AF. Only downside is no OIS

I just purchased the X-t2 with the kit lens and 50-140 tele. So far I love it. I previously shot with a Canon 5Did and L glass. It was getting a bit too heavy as I am getting older. My "camera guy" whom I have purchased all my previous gear from suggested I try the Fuji. I never looked back. I also downloaded your overview tutorial - so much better than the the camera manual.

I was surprised that they came up with a positive conclusion after destroying the X-T2 during the whole video. Weird...

gotta say, you guys are definitely improving your reviews. it's nice that you included an analysis of the entire fuji system and compared it to other cameras in the class.

Thanks for this crisp, informative review. The question for a lot of us XT-1 users is going to be whether it's worth the cost to upgrade. If autofocus is important, then almost certainly yes. If one prints large, then the bump to 24 MP means probably yes (50% increase in usable detail). But absent a need for AF or very large prints, the later XT-1 with firmware update remains a price competitive option. Again, two thumbs up for your professional quality videos. (Nice, eh?)

As a X-T2 owner. This review is spot on. I'm really hoping for Sony class eye-tracking and better video AF. That would make the camera almost perfect for me.

Thanks for all your wonderful work on this channel. Not sure you will see this, but my niece just bought a used X-t2 with 80mm f2.8 IS lens. Firmware is one removed (4.x) from most recent. Pictures of still subjects are not sharp, even at 1/500th sec with IS on! My Nikon D300 with crappy 24-120 f4 VR is sharper. Our X-T2 zone tracking tests failed in every single image. Even the pics taken on a tripod are not sharp. Defectiv/damaged? Your sample images are MUCH sharper.
