This is a Motormouth couple car review of the updated 2025 Hyjundai Tucson compact SUV. Hyundai unveiled the 2025 HyundaiTucson at the New York Auto Show.
The biggest changes for the 2025 HyundaiTucson come to the interior with a new infotainment system, buttons are back, the dash has been redesigned, there’s a new centre console with a wireless charging pad and a parcel shelf on the front passenger side has been added to store small items. The 2025 HyundaiTucson gas model has a traditional shifter, the hybrid and plug-in hybrid models have a new column shifter. A newly designed steering wheel has been added, an available 12.3” digital driver display and a standard 12.3” touchscreen screen with wireless Apple Carplay and Android Auto. Over the air updates are also available.
The exterior of the 2025 HyundaiTucson has been tweaked with a new grille, front and rear bumper and a new trim called the XRT, it has more of an outdoor focused design.
The powertrains are carried over from the previous model but the hybrid and PHEV get a slight boost in power, 5 extra horsepower for the hybrid and 7 horsepower for the plug-in hybrid.
The 2025 HyundaiTucson gas model has a 2.5L 4-cylinder engine with an 8-speed automatic transmission, 187 horsepower and 178 lb-ft of torque.
The Hybrid 2025 HyundaiTucson gets a 1.6L turbocharged hybrid powertrain paired to a 6-speed automatic transmission, a combined 231 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque.
The plug-in 2025 HyundaiTucson hybrid has the same 1.6L turbo as the hybrid with a combined 268 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque, 53 km/33 miles of EV range. Both the hybrid and PHEV are AWD models.
The Tucson gas model will hit dealerships in June and the plug-in hybrid and hybrid late summer.

Thanks SO much!!! I was on the verge of getting a ‘24 Limited hybrid/HEV, but now I think I’ll wait for the ‘25 as I like the changes Hyundai has made!

I just bought the 2024 Phev and I'm lovin it. I'm having fun . After using my homes 110 outlet to charge it @ 11 hours for a full charge, I now have 220 charger and it only takes under two hours to charge using my solar system. Enphase inverters with Enphase charger. The best is my first tank of gas 67MPG and second 61.4.... I charge every day and drive to get the best mileage . It has plenty of power without using the turbo in sport mode.

Great review guys!! I like it. I was hung up on the old dash and had ordered a Sportage because of it, but it takes forever plus a day to get one so I talked myself into ordering a Tucson. I like the look of this newer version and will take either a 2024 or 2025 which ever the dealer is able to get. BTW Does the 2025 PHEV Ultimate have the panoramic roof?

I am surprised they went with two different interiors for the gas/electrified models - and especially that in the gas model they went with the Santa Cruz shifter and moved away from the push button setup they Tucson had before. I thought you were filming in the Santa Cruz for a minute there! It's a nice mid-cycle refresh. I'm still hooked on the new Santa Fe though ..

Memo to Toyota from a 50 year loyal customer: Please, please, consider moving your designs toward something less drab and boring especially the interiors. I think this new Tucson is modern looking yet still functional. If they can do it you should be able to.

New interior is SOOO much better, this is the reason i holded off in upgrading my 2017 i didnt like the piano black awkward tablet inserted in the middle look but still might just hold off to see what the new 4Runner brings before i upgrade anything 😊

The too low rear turning signals are even lower in the redesign. A car at the blind spots cannot see the signals. ( Did they do that just to spite the crtics, the customers be damned?) And unlike the Sportage, the Tucson Hybrid still do not provide a spare tire.

With the new bumps in horsepower, do you think the range or fuel economy of the plug-in hybrid/regular hybrid will take a hit?

As always thank you for the nice video. I wanna ask, which compact suv do you recommend to buy this year? I wanna get a good headlight and comfortable seats. I see that VW Tiguan isn’t a cheap but has a premium matrix light and powerful 2L turbo engine. I’ve two kids and looking for a car to travel with 3 kids and two adults in the future. Hope you can share your thoughts

Great review of the car! You guys really know the details of a brand new car as if it's been around for a while! On paper the Hyundai and Kia products have so much value for the money and the interiors and tech are really on the top of the segment. But if they would just pump the brakes on the features and tech while improving the reliability and especially the dealer service capabilities, I think they may be able to give Toyota or Honda a good run for the money. But the more of these they sell, the more issues they have with keeping the service departments staffed and up to speed. Thanks for the video!

The N Should have the 2.5 turbo. For a little more power.the regular 2.5 is very under powered and sounds very course

Have a 2019 Tucson Ultimate (US-spec). It’s a great car have had NO ISSUES whatsoever with it. I’m loving the update of this 2025 Tucson with its tech’, its features, and the safety systems included across the board on all models. And Hyundai has given the New Tucson wireless Apple Car Play and Android Auto to at least the top trim Limited. Can’t decide between this or the New Santa Fe which just came out. Decisions decisions. 🤔

The intergrated headlights in the grill might be a problem with snow build up.
