it may sound weird but ive always loved the feeling of waking up super early knowing im going to be going on a flight or traveling. Something about the airport ambiance and food in the morning to get you excited about your next trip.

I love to travel early in the morning, all the excitement makes me forget about the early alarm and I don't even feel tired or sleepy. I love how calm and different the airports look early in the morning.

*Early Morning Flights* - If my final destination is domestic it’s always a very early flight.
*Red-Eye Flights* - Every single flight to Europe is a red-eye from the east coast U.S.

I'm Irish and fly Ryanair so its almost always an early flight. Which I can't really complain about because the flight costs less then a 15 minute taxi in Ireland but man I do love those flights around 12 in the day. Just stroll on and off.

Depends on the distance and the time zone of the destination, but as i live in Finland, i fly mostly within Europe and thus the early mornings suit me well. I arrive at my destinations generally before the afternoon which is always cool!

Mid morning flight. Around 10 a.m. Best of both worlds. Early enough to make room for possible delays, but not having to get up before sunrise.

Our last trip we opted not to take the crazy early flight & took the late morning instead. Main deciding factor… kids (13 &15) are NOT morning people & would have been very cranky the whole day. It was the right decision for us.

We landed about dinner time, went to an unnamed get everything you need big box store, stocked up for a 17 day road trip (19 day total trip). Then grabbed dinner and crashed relatively early for a big day of vacation the next day.

We hit 10 states, 8 national parks, 2 state parks, a tribal lands park, a Native American memorial, museum, and more. Put over 3800 miles on a rental car in 19 days & the kids hardly argued at all! It was totally worth “wasting” our first day so that we got started the right foot & not a sour note.

I'm not a morning person at all, but I do like the morning flights for all the reasons you mentioned. Also better if you have a connection so that you have more options in case you miss it or there's a delay, or cancellation, .

Mark, VERY IMPORTANT! If anyone is getting a taxi to the airport in the early morning hours, make sure you really CAN get one! I used to work in hotels mostly in places of 100, 000 population or less, and a lot of the cab services simply did not have drivers at 4 AM. The solution was usually to arrange the taxi the night before, we at the front desk would have a log book note of who it was arranged with, and could call if not there on time. But I had more than one guest miss a flight because of no cabs. Once a flight attendant missed a flight!

I am definitely like to start my travels (whether by plane, train or road) very early. As Mark says, that gives me (almost) a whole extra day at my destination! On two occasions I have left my home by taxi at about 05 30; taken off about 09 15 and arrived in Zurich by 12 00. By 15 00 I was up a Swiss mountain.

I love being at the airport in the wee early hours. We flew a lot when I was a kid and my mom liked it because hardly anyone was there and we could run around an empty airport, tire ourselves out, and sleep on the flight. If it's a long haul flight, though, I prefer overnight so at least there's a hope of sleeping on the flight.

I prefer morning flights too, for the same reason. Also nice to not arrive in fresh places in the night trying to find your way.

First thing in the morning is my favorite time - less delays and I’d like to get to the destination at a reasonable hour like you- to relax have a nice meal and just have a quiet evening.

I'm the same as you and I learned it from my parents. I like getting to my destination as early as I can so I can get checked into my accommodation and nap if I need or go do something if I want. I'm usually so excited to get where I'm going that I never really mind waking up at 3 or 4 am and, again, I can nap when I get to my hotel or sleep on the plane! Early flights are also often cheaper I've found so that's another bonus. I'm happy to have this aspect of my travel style validated by a bona fide expert like yourself, Mark.

Love the overnight flight to Europe the best!! Just glad to be going. I’m not an early morning anything though I get it, especially if doing something like Chicago to New York. Love your smile, makes me smile. Cheers thanks happy travels too

I like the early morning flights too, except the restaurants past security are not open yet before 6am. We usually get coffee and sandwiches at our layovers.

It depends. Some airlines only fly to certain destinations on certain schedules and you have to suck it up. I was once the only passenger for a 5 pm regional flight so they arranged a little seaplane for me where I chatted with the pilot the whole time. A great memory.

I prefer the morning, too, for the reasons you mentioned, but also because there's usually less turbulence in the morning.

Either early morning or in the evening. I like being able to do things during the day before the flight.
