It's so crazy how every single song never fails to bring chills down my spine, not always from fear but from how good these songs all are. This is so amazing, and as a hellenistic person myself, I love that you are making a great musical about one of the greatest stories in Greek mythology.

"Captain..! CAPTAIN..! CAPTAIN! CAPTAIN!"
"Why would you let the cyclops live when ruthlessness is mercy?"
"I keep thinking of the infant from that night..."

I'M GOING TO CRY. I CAN'T WAIT TO HEAR THE FULL SONG BUT OH MY HEART;;

I absolutely love how the thesis of the play is used in this song. The core question of "When does a man become a monster?" Is so expertly expanded here taking on new dimensions as the play asks not only "At what point does an action become a step too far" and with the dead crews reprise of it adding the question "When does a man's inaction make him an monster" and "When is mercy monstrous?"

I hope polites makes a cameo. Also it would be cool if we saw him reuniting with those who fought alongside him in the trojan war who died, like in the original Odyssey, (aka: achilles, patroclus :(, Agamemnon who technically died after but Ody didn't know, Greater ajax... Etc). Also it would be heartwarming if he reunited with his mother like in the book/poem.

Edit: to clear up any confusion, yes I know none of Odysseus' men died in the trojan war (at least in epic), but there were other kingdoms who also fought in the war. There were many people Odysseus was sort of friends with (not from his kingdom), who died, and in the part of the Odyssey that takes place in the underworld he reunites with them, along with his own mother and one of his soldiers that died before they left Circe's island. It is heartwarming as hell and I hope that they will be cameos in the song.

Can we all just appreciate how Jay is such a renaissance man? He writes the songs, creates backing track, writes lyrics, sings the songs, does his own casting, and also edits videos? Am I wrong? The editing here is easy to overlook, but you can tell he put a decent amount of effort into this video.

"I keep thinking of that infant from that night, " "I keep thinking of that infant from that night, " this lyric stood out to me the most though the song in a dark room definitely brought a chill down my spine. Your facial expression...it's clear that he's starting to go down a darker path, divulging from his morals and ideals.

I can't explain how I feel every time I hear the "captain, captain" in the background of every song (survive, ruthlessness and now this) it's more than chills, it goes deeper. This music hits on a different level

As a classicist, this entire musical makes me so happy because it's exactly in the spirit of how the Hellens shared their myths around and the perfect mix of details exactly as they were in the Odyssey and others changed to fit better with the flow and theme of the musical is just... chief's kiss

The whole "Captain! Captain! CAPTAIN!" line hits so hard. Odysseus's guilt for letting the Polyphemus live really shows herem

Frankly the fact that it took this long to get an adaptation of arguably the most famous poem every written that actually does it justice is weird, but man you guys are absolutely killing it.

All I can think about is Odysseus is surrounded by the ghost of his crew in udder horror. Distorted silhouetted dark figures. With every “CAPTAIN!” More of them appear in front of him. Some reaching desperately at his heels as if begging for help or to pull him down with them. Some grabbing at his arms. Some angry, some weeping. Then him turning around to an angry tear filled polities grabbing him by the shoulders at “why would you let the cyclops live” im currently full animating this sequence. This musical is everything to me

I love this so much! You can just feel the regret and pain as Odysseus continues forward, especially when he's remembering the infant. How much regret does he have when he realises that, even by doing something so cruel and haunting to ensure his men survive, it just wasn't enough?

oh my god the way the expression on his face shifts to something absolutely haunted when he sings about the infant from that night! the song revolves around him being haunted by the blood in his hands but in the last two lines there's a certain desolation in his face and voice and i love it. it's just so palpable, which i think is extremely fitting considering it's the first time he was pushed to the brink in the musical and it led him to kill a _child._

The addition of Just a Man throughout gives me chills EVERY

The cacophony of voices behind you singing is the perfect backdrop! It really helps hammer home the fact that he’s in the LITERAL UNDERWORLD, which often gets kinda glossed over in summaries of the Odyssey. It’s not a sunshine and rainbows place! And oooh please tell me Astyanax will pop up in this song…👀

Ah love that it references the infant, I was ranting to someone who didn't get it about how that trauma is woven throughout
