According to Homer, the Trojan War lasted 10-years. “The Iliad” recounts the tenth year. “The Odyssey” covers another 10 years. Therefore, Odysseus was away from Ithaca (and his wife) for 20 total years. 12 Long Years here is perfectly accurate, if you consider his Journey up until this point has taken about 2 years from when he left Troy. Later on he will be trapped with Calypso for 7-years, leaving 1 final year for the remaining events before he returns home.

There's so much to say about this, so I'm going to divide it into two parts:
1. Talya is absolutely incredible in this clip and is always challenging my perception of Circe. I love how she starts out leaning against the wall, slightly shorter than Odysseus, but then rises up when she says "you have so much left to learn, " thus becoming the same height/slightly taller than him. Not only is she dominating musically, but she's also physically overwhelming him (which is fitting, considering the context). It's really refreshing to see someone out-manipulate Ody. Circe is such a great villain because her and Ody are so evenly matched in so many ways 😊
2. Jorge, you never fail to amaze. Ody seems more pained in this clip than he does in "The Horse and the Infant, " which I think is really telling of how broken down he is. It's not like Ody is more or less torn about cheating on Penelope than he is with killing an innocent baby, but rather it's the build-up of grief. He killed the infant, made so many sacrifices, and lost so many comrades just so that he could make it back home to Penelope. Now, he's put in a situation where Circe is challenging that resolve, his core motivation throughout the show, and he's WAVERING. Not only is he battling with the fact that he's considering being unfaithful / is about to be unfaithful to his wife, aka his prime motivation, but that leads into the fact that his entire character is being called into question. With every saga, he's losing more and more of himself and now he's starting to feel the slip on his devotion to Penelope, the pain from which YOU CAN SEE ON HIS FACE AND IN HIS VOICE KAJHGLKJHGLFG. JORGE, THIS REALLY KICKS ME IN THE FEELS. TAKE THIS CORN AND GO REFLECT ON YOUR ACTIONS 🌽♥😭

I love how he says “I am just a man” in humility, then it turns into “I’m just a man, forgive me!” in surrender, vulnerability and in an apology for his wife back home.🤔
It’s so fascinatingly realistic.

What really gets me is that I don’t even think they were dating at this time. This is just them being two PHENOMENAL actors. Faking chemistry is HARD and this is done INCREDIBLY.
