I think people look at upgrading Gonti the wrong way. I don't think the focus should be adding MORE theft cards or cards that give value from playing from exile (except Tasha she's amazing). I think the goal is ramping ahead of your opponents in order to play the cards you steal more often and focusing on cards that reward you for attacking. There's a few ways to go about this and you can even mix them together.

Option 1 is to play cards that will untap your lands (preferably while it's still your turn). Great option include Nature's Will, Bear Umbra and if you're really balling Sword of Feast and Famine. These cards also synergize with your theme of getting value through combat. Other options are cards like Seedborn Muse will allow you to have mana up for all your potential interaction.

Option 2 is to play cards that allows you to play extra lands per turn. At first this may sound weird but from my testing a fair amount of the cards you'll be stealing are lands that feel subpar to hit most of the time especially the later the game goes on. However if you play cards like exploration or Azusa this allows you to ramp faster than your opponents and make the lands you steal a bit more valuable. This also helps your strategy by just having more mana to cast more spells that you stole.

The final option is to lean heavy in effects that reward you for combat. The precon not only wants you to be aggressive and swing at your opponents, it rewards you for doing so successfully. So I believe that leaning heavily into this not only helps you get that early game value since most of your evasive creature are low to ground as far as mana cost, it also opens up the support for a ninjutsu subtheme that the deck naturally synergizes with. Cards that fit this category include Thada Adel, Varragoth Bloodsky Sire (with has funny synergy with Opposition Agent), Glissa Sunslayer, Lord of The Void (which fits your stealing theme).

Finally some personal tech cards that may help include Lantern of Insight, Hunted Horror (it's hard to beat a turn two 7/7 with trample and the tokens it makes can be evaded by other cards), Cephalid Facetaker, Warkite Marauder (makes it safer for your less evasive creatures to swing), Xanathar, Opposition Agent (duh), Memory Lapse (usually pretty mediocre but in this deck it's kinda crazy) and finally Sonic Screwdriver and Kaito Shizuki (these just synergize with the deck very well).

I watched a bunch of content creators play these decks out of the box and I haven't seen the Sultai theft deck win a single game yet.

Thank you for this! I love this format of ratings, hope to see more in future sets, and woukd you consider doing this for previuos sets? Im new to magic and really enjoy commander but not many sources exist that cover precious sets(plus maybe older sets have benefited from new cards)

I’d like to see a category, not necessarily for upgrades with unlimited potential. But how good the deck is with 5-10 cards changed.

Omnath, locus of rage and avenger of zendikar definitely are finishers too in the desert bloom

For cuts in Most Wanted the mana rocks should be removed. There are an endless supply of high quality outlaws in the 2-3 mana range to play instead of mana rocks. With Olivia you want to curve into her naturally on turns 1-3, then on turn 4 play Olivia, and you immediately start triggering her to generate Treasure tokens. The treasure tokens even come into play untapped so you can leave protection up. Mana rocks ironically slow down your gameplan since you spend the early turns playing artifacts instead of playing the outlaws that make you treasure tokens.

Tomer is the kind of player everyone wants at their table, but that spikes resent for doing splashy things without invoking the wrath of the table. Never change.

Cards like fain and tradingpost make more sense in metas where the board isn't cleared every other turn. Personally i like them in partikular with enough sac fodder.

When I saw just the image of Quick Draw, I imagined it’s was drawing deck, I thought my I could have put My Lotus God in the deck. Maybe 🤔. But your upgrades I support it.

Thanks for the review! It seems like everyone is extremely torn on these commander decks. I don't think there's been much consensus across different content creators haha. Lesson: go play the deck that appeals to you! 😄

currently working on upgrading the desert bloom not a big deal, but you said 17 deserts in the deck, when there's 15 or am i missing something in the list?
