let’s just face it if you are east asian you are more likely to get accepted (you need talent as well) this industry most people are korean, japanese, chinese, taiwanese, basically east asian i’m not saying give up on being a kpop idol just it’s going to be hard

They probably want you to be able to successfully sing an SM song-

For people who are confused :
1.You don't have to do the random dance if you have not chosen the dance category .
2. You can do the official choreography of the song but if you don't know the song or choreography you will have to freestyle ( which is considered better ).
3. You can choose any song to cover but if you cover their company's song that can be disadvantage eg. If you are auditioning for YG don't cover a YG artist song .

sure anyone can go audition, it’s open to anyone. but it all comes down to their pick, which basically is east asian or some sort of mix east asian. be real honest. being an idol you obviously have to know the language or eventually be able to speak it, you’d be work with people who converse in the language throughout the whole company/industry. Like how many non asian people actually made it through auditions? I can only think of 1 non asian in the kpop industry.

You dont need to be asian but do you need to be kind of mixed like do you need to be half Korean, Chinese, thai or something? Like could a American person who doesnt have this asian looks become a kpop artist (Im not american or something but It would be interesting to know)

Y’all are missing her point. YOU DONT HAVE TO BE ASIAN OR ASIAN PASSING AT ALL TO AUDITION. But they know what they want and what they want is most likely an Asian. But you can still audition as much as you like. Just don’t expect to get in. And with kpop getting popular internationally you will see more agencies give non Asians who audition a chance because it creates noise. Like black swan for example.

That last look really said “be for real now y’all”. Tho unless the company is having auditions to creat a foreign group, you have big chances. But for regular kpop auditions, If your not Asian or mixed Asian with the talent/looks, there’s no chance for you.

About the East/Southeast Asian thing…while you don’t have to be one to audition, the cruel fact is that you’ll most likely be rejected for not at least being half Asian. Small companies may take you in, but big ones most likely won’t even consider you just because of your ethnicity.

Like they probably have the concept and other trainee line up ready. So they definitely know what they're looking for

So yeah me and one my friends where thinking of auditioning on JYP, me for singing and her for rapping. The problem is that we are European, so when we are ready we will feel JYP’s online form and hope for the best

Should you do a whistle note if you can execute it during a Kpop audition? They are looking for talents but wpd they be impressed and more likely select you for that

You definitely have to be mixed Asian to make it as a kpop idol, especially successfully. There has been a few non-Asians that have debuted of course, but notice how they’re never from the big3, they’re never talked about or their group disbanded.

So if you have an allergic reaction and you think it can probably happen while you are a kpop idol or trainee do you have to tell them or not ?
And would they switch things if it’s bad bc mine is 🥲

I have a question - If they give us a song of their choice so we need to do the official choreography of that song or we can do our own steps

to be honest you'll only get accepted if you have good idol-like visuals, that means generally fitting in with korean beauty standards and being skinny. For a lot of these companies, they would probably accept someone more good looking and has an aura over someone who lacks visuals but is talented.

I've been curious about somethings .
-do you choose the song you want to sing?
-do you choose what song you wanna dance for
-when a song comes on in the random dance but you dont know it what happens?
