I'm going to suggest sticking w/plant-based laundry soap because it doesn't have all sorts of ingredients in it that aren't necessary & could cause skin irritations.
Also, most people use far too much laundry detergent. You don't need half a cup of liquid. 1/8 c. is plenty. For powder versions, a tablespoon of it is plenty.
I know...sounds crazy for 20 gallons of water...but the soap is just to make water "wetter". It's the water pushing thru laundry that's what's cleaning it....NOT the soap.
And if you use less detergent, the ones that are pricier aren't as pricey. Right? If you use half a cup of a pricey one, you'll go thru a bottle in no time flat ! It'll last a lot longer if you use 1/8 cup instead.
The detergents that say they're "free" of this that & the other aren't any better than ones that aren't from the research I've seen.
I recommend checking out Patric Richardson aka The Laundry Evangelist. This guy knows laundry like you wouldn't believe. I've been doing laundry for 53 years & I've learned some new tricks from Patric (that's how he spells it).One of the things I learned was NOT to use fabric softener. Let me tell you, I have ALWAYS used fabric softener ! So, we're talking hard-core user here. Just one use of it reduces the absorbancy of towels by 80%. I have stopped using it. It leaves residue....& so do most commercial detergents.
Good for you to do videos like this....I think they're very helpful!

Just an FYI - when a product is “fragrance free” it doesn’t necessarily mean the product won’t have a scent; the ingredients the product is made with with still have their natural scent. 🙃

I’ve been using branch basics now for a few months after seeing you use it and absolutely love it! I’m also a huge fan of their multi purpose as well.

I love Dropps! Great for the environment too! I have to go fragrance free as much as possible due to my severe psoriasis, but I love the clean laundry “scent” after doing a load.

Another thing to think about is how much of a detergent you actually need to use in a load of laundry. My college chemistry professor experimented with this and found that you could get the same results using a quarter of the amount recommended on the box of Tide (in a top loader). It’s worth experimenting yourself to see how much you need of your own detergent in your own machine.

Nelly’s laundry, rockin green, Molly Sud’s, and Norwex Laundry, these are more natural and way healthier then the ones you tested other then branch basics which is nice. The EWG is more accurate on test the ingredients and scoring.

I have been using the Dropps pods and the Amazon Solimo pods which have been 16-20 cents per load depending on the size purchased. Then I heard about The Laundress (can be up to .32 cents per load if you buy the smaller quantity) and tried that with a coupon code. I only used it on our clothing and some linens we use, and use regular pods on cleaning rags. The Laundress is very highly fragranced. I would like to compare their effectiveness on stains more than anything though. Because that is what they would come down to for me. Right now I pre-treat stains but I have no idea which one is the most effective on stains. And if the stains would come out with the detergent alone without pre-treating. Also I stopped using fabric softener and now use vinegar instead because it doesn't coat the fabric which tends to break it down. The vinegar works really well and I have no static cling.

I would love it if you could try the Earth Breeze eco sheets or something similar. I've been thinking of trying them out myself, but I want to use up the laundry detergent I already have. I'm currently using Ariel Alpine and I love it, but I wanted to switch to something eco friendly.😊

All my cleaners, except for 2 or 3, are cruelty-free (no animal testing). From there, they need to be natural. I prepared a spreadsheet for laundry that included, price, tests of cleaning stains, EWG ratings, certifications from either Leaping Bunny or PETA plus a couple other variables. I run a macro that orders the list for best laundry cleaner. It was very informative and it determined what I buy. I loved seeing someone else checking for important factors.

I’ve also been a tide person for the same reason but may have to try seventh generation after watching this!
