Retro Game Hunting in 2025: Three HUGE Dallas Thrift Stores!
During a long lunch break from work, I decided to indulge my love for retro game hunting by visiting three massive thrift stores in Irving, near Dallas. Although it’s now 2025, this outing technically happened in late 2024—a small detail. My stops included Goodwill, Thrift Giant, and Texas Thrift, each offering a unique mix of items.

While exploring, I stumbled upon a few games, some gaming-related books, action figures, and nostalgic toys. Alongside those finds, I spotted several pop culture items, plus a rare VCR. Though the thrifting scene has changed a lot since its golden days in the 1990s and early 2000s, the thrill of discovery remains.

The experience reminded me that while the retro gaming hunt is much more difficult these days, it’s still fun to look. If you’re a collector or just love nostalgia, thrift stores remain an enjoyable place to explore.

I don't really go to thrift stores for gaming stuff nowadays, but as a kid, we thrived on pawnshops and thrift stores for cheap NES games.

I never really did the thrift store thing. Never really have what I am in to. For gaming I would generally go to game stores. You won't really find any great deals but your chances of finding what you are after is much higher

Having went on a mostly fruitless thrift hunt on my birthday yesterday, I can certainly relate. You know what I came back with? A copy of Star Ocean: The Last Hope with only the third disc inside it, a Nintendo DS flash cart, and a locked tablet. Oh joy unbounding! >:{

Try being in the UK... Nothing gets donated and never has, not in 20 years. Everything sold on ebay or FB marketplace and is a rip off.
