Great tune and crisp playing by all. Secondly, I certainly never heard it on an elevator!

Terrific. I've been enjoying Bobby Watson's current output.

Every time I hear Wynton Marsalis on the Bobby Watson track In Case you Missed it I get goose bumps. What a baddass bunch of badass musicians.

With exactly the same rhythm section but with Bill Pearce-tenor, Bobby Watson-alto & music director, and Wynton Marsalis trumpet (from track 3 onwards). I saw this fantastic sextet a few weeks before in Holland, on a bitterly bloody cold evening. I never knew that this record existed, or let alone even "album of the year"! But in '81/'82 the Jazz Messengers recorded live in the -Keystone Korner Jazz-Joint- in San Francisco an LP on the Concord-label that became a Downbeat winner. And please correct me if i am wrong. Around these times they made also an live recording (2 LP's) at Bubba's in Florida but released under Wynton's name. This truly marvellous group of incredible Jazz musicians set the place on fire with an drive, vigour, inventiveness, and never-ending improvisations. And as Art Blakey said to me at that gig in Holland, all those years ago, we play - gut bucket shit! - and how right he was and what i find somehow missing these days.... Thank you for this (mind-blowing and surprising) upload, that certainly has my memories on full overdrive.
