the greatest villain in the history of movies. when they were about to do the scene where Cady says about the daughter, "she's almost as juicy as her mama, " and gregory peck tries to hit him, Mitchum told Peck, "If we fake this, it'll look phoney. Really try to hit me. I can deal with it." (or words to that effect). And he did. It looks real cause it is. Robert Mitchum, real life tough guy (but nothing like Max Cady).
