UPDATE: Snowy, the white Siberian Husky in this video was diagnosed in December 2017 with bladder cancer and has recently passed away. We enjoyed him each and every day we had with him and will really miss him.

This video was made July 5th 2017 while we were camping in Alaska.
The location, Family campground at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, Alaska. Siberian Husky is outside camper on steel tether when a mother black bear with 3 cubs wanders into the campsite. What the Husky did to defend himself and the camper and what the dog's owner did from the door of camper cause the angry bear to reconsider. Days later a bear matching this description enters a nearby residence on base and leaves no option but to be put down.

The cubs climbing the tree and peeking out from behind it is just too cute!!

That is one very, very, VERY lucky Husky.  I'm glad he survived this.

Bear had a cub, she basically saw the husky as a lone wolf that could have killed her cub so she was just being protective. Glad the situation didn't get ugly.

I'm glad the dog came out unharmed, and this woman is brave ...but DAMN she's dumb for tying her dog up in an area like that

Great video, Tom. Glad that your dog, the mama bear, and the cubs came through this unscathed.

They are camping and I think everyone did exactly what they were supposed to do. Mama bear is being protective, to a point, baby bears are trying to scurry up a tree (I have seen this scenario about 20 times), dog is calling for help, and the person is screaming for the bear to take a hike. Perfect job on everyone's part. Great video.

Is that bear on parole? I noticed a GPS tracker on him.

Bear just doing what bears do, dog just doing what dogs do, human just doing what humans do. Nothing "wrong" about any of this. Glad the dog didn't get injured though, I would not have left him tied up in that environment, not really fair to him.

Atleast the owner came out like 1.5 secs after the dog yelped, because other owner its takes like 20 secs, then their dog is dead

I'm glad the dog was okay.

Edited: I'm glad the bear didn't harm the dog.

She was a mommy so understandable but scary, glad your doggy is okay! Held his ground good.

Very fortunate for the dog that someone came out and scared the bear away. Being tied up with no way out could have been disastrous.

Bear would t have been so aggressive had it not been for them cubs with her. Dog did it’s job though and stood its ground. Dog has that family to protect as well.
