Don't spend money you don't have, on stuff you don't need, to impress people you don't even know.

living in Europe, we already implement naturally half of these advises. Living frugally in USA is living normally in Europe :)

When my wife and I got married we decided that would would only buy 2 presents per kid on Christmas. 1 from mom and dad and 1 from Santa. It’s been the best thing we ever did and we don’t have spoiled kids.

Another thing I can add to your list, personal goods, like cosmetics. I stopped buying expensive skin care or makeup stuff. I stay with just natural oil, lotion and drugstore brand makeup items.

It's not a matter of "saving" on things it is a matter of "not spending" on stuff.

Not sure if anyone commented on saving money by not having pets. I’m an animal lover and I’ve had dogs but they can get expensive, especially if you like to travel since you have to arrange a pet sitter or boarding for them. Now I’ll go to a dog park to watch dogs or ask dog owners in the park if I can say hello to their pets and I feed treats to the outdoor cats adopted by my condominium complex and donate to my local no kill animal shelter. Not the same love as having a pet of my own but way cheaper and easier to travel.

Its fascinating to see an slightly older couple practicing minimalism since most of the minimalists I've seen so far have been mid 20's or younger. I'm very impressed!

Love this channel. Why? Short intro and getting straight to the point. Also you are fun to watch the way you guys explain stuff. Some people share knowledge but their tone and voice is exhausting. Not for you guys though! Gave my hubby an assignment to watch all your videos... Thanks for sharing.

I buy my purses from good will for $10.00 dollars. Thrift shopping has saved me $500.00 a year.

We sold a lot of our stuff before starting a year long trip around the world. It took us so long to get rid of everything - a good motivator not to accumulate unnecessary stuff in future!

If it were me though I would try to have my immediate surroundings pleasing to the eye and warm and inviting. Painting the walls cost maybe $50 and a rug maybe $150-$300 & a nice painting hanging on the wall $150 and a lamp another $100. I don’t go out and spend money so I like my home to be attractive and comfortable 👍🏻🏆

I have a comment regarding used cars. I've seen several of my friends/family members go through used cars too frequently (because of problems with it) and in the end, buying a new car can be less expensive in some cases. My friend has gone through 5 used cars (costing $5-7K each) in less than 7 yrs. I've had the same car for 7 years but it was a New purchase (21K)and we paid it off in 4yrs with a low interest rate. Buying a new car isn't always a bad idea especially when you plan on keeping it for as long as you can.

Great tips! My husband and I don't wear wedding rings either and keep jewelry to a minimum (for me it's a once a year $10-15 pair of earrings from Amazon.)
