I’ve been in the same job since 1998!
Every year during the performance review, I get the same story. I’m doing an amazing job but that I’m getting paid too much, compared to similar jobs in other industries. Bla, bla, bla.
I’m 4 years away from retirement. That’s the reason I’m still there.

In my experience, the people that jumped to private sector, 90% did worse in the long run.

Those bigger salaries led to unstableness in employment due to unexpected layoffs and forced relocations etc. Especially with a family to balance, those hiccups can wreck the best laid plans.

Sure it works out for many, but my anecdotal experience says that Govt or quasi-govt almost always ends in “slow and steady wins the race”.

No reason fo stay at a job for more than 3 years when they dont offer a pension. Most people will see an increase in income switching as opposed to the increase in salary at their existing company. If I remember correctly, it's statistically about 15% more
