“When should I start doing pelvic floor physical therapy exercises during pregnancy and postpartum (especially after having a C-section)?!🤔⬇️
The short answer…IT DEPENDS!
When did I start? The same day I had surgery. Yes, I started implementing education to protect my surgery site such as splinting, log roll technique, breathing, bracing, standing at edge of bed, sitting at edge of bed, walking to the bathroom, etc.✅
There are a variety of factors that you just can’t control during pregnancy, labor, and postpartum…(like an emergency c-section)
So it is important to focus on all the things you can control like EXERCISE! It’s important to prepare mentally, and physically for whatever comes your way. That’s why I recommend patients see or talk with a pelvic floor PT at least once during pregnancy and again postpartum!❤️
I’m 8 months pp here and have been progressing my home programs to help strengthen my abdominal muscles and pelvic floor to get back to higher level exercises, lifting, and running!🙌
Yes, I have been doing breathing for my belly and pelvic floor everyday as well as stretching, strengthening, and walking 30-60 min daily!✅
Even in crazy days where I only get 5 minutes to myself or am exhausted for lack of sleep, I always do DIAPHRAGMATIC BREATHING!🔥
I talk a lot about preparation during pregnancy and postpartum healing in my Pregnancy Prep & Postpartum Recovery Online Program🔥🔥
I even added information about my personal recovery and personalized home exercise PDFs to show you all what I have been doing to recover!✅
I am also back to doing ALL the exercises from The Belly Whisperer Method online program!
P.S. If it’s been years since you had kids but you want to start strengthening, stretching, and protecting your belly and pelvic floor then I recommend checking out The Belly Whisperer Method!🔥🔥🔥
And remember it takes YEARS to heal postpartum even if you can start doing more activities again so don’t rush the process, just do what you can to help prevent injuries and keep you feeling good!❤️
Focus on feeling good. Nourish your body with sleep, food, and exercise🙌
