The Unknown 'mode 2' is a time machine that can take you back to see Hendrix or Kossoff etc.

Mode 1
Stops either immediately OR at the end of the loop
1- Record
2- Overdub
3- Playback
4- Push twice to turn off

Mode 2
Stops at end of the loop only

1- Record
2- Playback
3- Overdub
Push twice to turn off

Reset by holding down with power unplugged

Mode 2 plays back without overdubbing automatically. I prefer that. Then you can think about what you want to add. If you are live, you might want it to go to overdub as soon as you finish a loop... right to recording the next. Depends on how much of a hurry you are in to overdub the next layer.

Like most people I didn't look at the instructions 🤯 and lost patience. It has been in its box for about a year, so today I decided to give it another go and got it right thanks to your tutorial. Cheers 👍✌

Her camerawork was great. Plenty stable to see everything you were talking about. And I've been a TV producer since 1985 so I know!! Tell her thanks! :-)

Greetings to your daughter. She did a perfect camera job. Thank you very much for the information. I bought one second hand and the flashing was strange. And the hint to the manual (RTFM read the fucking manual. ) there ist also a third mode which is not on the manual. Half circle green and red. This will change the kind of display.
Press the pedal switch ONCE to go the next MODE CHOICE:
The LOOP LED Indicator lights up RED, indicating RECORD MODE.
The LOOP LED Indicator lights up in GREEN, indicating the current STOP MODE.
The LOOP LED Indicator lights up in RED and GREEN, indicating the current DISPLAY MODE.

AVAILABLE RECORDING MODES:
-UPPER HALF LIT: Switch in the order of recording > overdubbing > playback
(Default setting).
-LOWER HALF LIT: Switch in the order of recording > playback overdubbing
(Preferred by instrumentalists).

AVAILABLE STOP MODES:
-UPPER HALF LIT: Press the pedal switch successively twice to stop immediately (default setting).
-LOWER HALF LIT: Press the pedal switch successively twice to enable stopping at the end of the phrase; playback stops when the phrase has played to its end.
When playback stops, the phrase is ERASED.

AVAILABLE DISPLAY MODES:
-UPPER HALF LIT: in RED and GREEN - The rotational speed of the LOOP indicator reflects the length of the recorded phase (DEFAULT setting).
-LOWER HALF LIT: in RED and GREEN -
The LOOP indicator rotates rapidly and alternates with the playback location (two light segments blinking together).

When I was an aircraft mechanic we had a saying: " you have to be 5% smarter than the thing you are working on". Which means I might be in trouble if I buy this pedal!

This was honestly one of the best YouTube videos I've ever watched man, like, you have your daughter helping, you explain it pretty thoroughly, and now I'm gonna try this and see what sort of insanity i can create!!! Thanks!

Thank you for helping me out of confusion. I believe people get in this problem because when they get the pedal they put it on the floor and they hold it steady with their foot while they plug the cables in and that's how you end up in the wrong mode because you're pressing the pedal down to hold it steady while you're plugging your cables in. However your tutorial got me right on track well done hey not bad can we work for a 7 year old.

Thank you for this video and explaination John ! For no apparent reason my pedal refused to record this afternoon, having already done several overdubs, and then the green lights were rushing around the dial like a crazy thing !!! All seems to be reset to factory spec' now. . . .cheers !

Good tip. There are other features than can also confuse people. As you point out, the 'Recording Mode' can be changed from the default Mode 1 (Record/Overdub/Playback), to Mode 2 (Record/Playback/Overdub). Mode 1 is shown by the upper red semi-circle of LEDs, Mode 2 by the lower semi-circle of red LEDs. I prefer Mode 2. You also demonstrated the other adjustable feature, the 'Stop Mode'. The upper green semi-circle of LEDs is the default setting (double tap stops the loop). The lower green semi-circle of green LEDs is the alternate option (double tap stops the loop at the end of the phrase and deletes it)....beware of that mode 😱.

John, your default setting is simply a setting to change the way for do loops. Setting one is 1record 2 overdub 3 play. Setting two is 1 record 2 play 3 overdubb. And there is no mystery involved.

Thank you!!! My battery began to run out, which somehow changed my modes. You just saved my pedal from a rage fuelled click with my foot!
