totally agree, let us transfer until it's not beta

This video raises a good point about the value of FSD if owners were allowed to transfer it to a new car, ad infinitum. I would imagine brand loyalty might rise another notch, and many more buyers (like me) might see the value of $12k across many vehicles. Another thought here, what if they allowed the ownership transfer, but required a transfer fee of say $2k-3k each time? Once purchased, I imagine most people would pay for the cost to maintain it in newer models. Recent numbers showed only 7% of buyers opting for FSD, so maybe this could be a way to increase its perceived value.

I bought my 3P in june 2022 which has to be your fault somehow :) on the plus side I got 1.5% interest loan and interest had already started going up when I finalized so that could have been a lot worse. I knew Tesla would be a wild ride but would still have preferred not to have an instant 25% loss. I talked to a VW sales guy who had recently gotten hired and VW wouldn't let him park his Tesla on the lot so he had to sell his brand new Y with a big loss :) And he really liked the car. New Plaid sounds interesting but insurance companies seem to have developed hesitation about the faster Teslas. Actually probably somewhat lucky that I got my 3.3second car insured at the price I did. It would be nice if Tesla offered insurance in Europe as well so we don't have the jeopardy of insurance companies saying what are you going to do about it.
And FSD should be freely transferable, especially as long as it is so extremely priced and not delivered on. 12k for a beta function and they say tough titty when you sell your car... that's not good judgment.

Buy them at the end of quarters, they drop right before that. Bought mine the day after Christmas. MYP for 48k (51k on the road) with some random 5k discount from 53k. And needed tax benefits, so basically 38k after taxes.

That's me. I currently have a 2018 Model S with FSD and free unlimited supercharging. Just ordered a new Model X. Deciding factor was being able to transfer my free supercharging (I take multiple road trips per year) and FSD. I absolutely love my free supercharging. That's actually more important to me than FSD. Had this offer not been available, I would just continue to drive my MS.

Glad its back - was almost there to utilize the first round - but wife's identity was snagged with that student loan bs that happen. So with that went dreams. Now fast forward we ready to roll.. Stealth grey, white interior, FSD transfer. Lets go!

I have FSD and unlimited free supercharging on my 2018 Model 3 Performance. If the tax credit applied to Model 3 I would go for it.

The sad part is Tesla don’t value the FSD purchase at trade in time. They don’t not give you about 1K of the current 12K it cost after just 2 years. That is pretty sad, guess it means the only time you should ever trade in a Tesla where you had FSD is when they offer the free transfer.

Looks like we may take them up on the offer, trading in a P85D 2015 Model S with unlimited supercharging and bumping my FSD on another Tesla over to the new Tesla vehicle. Add in the $1000 bonus for having a CyberTruck on order and this is a pretty sweet deal.

I love my current 2020 Model 3 with FSD, but I love even more the refresh. Is it worth spending $25K to upgrade something I am satisfied with? Hard decision to make.

Tesla should make FSD available on all vehicles and bill monthly at $0.10 per FSD mile driven. This eliminates the formidable one time purchase barrier, the high dollar monthly subscription barrier, and the FSD vehicle transfer issue. It brings FSD into the mainstream Tesla experience, drivers who use it little, pay little, and drivers who use it a lot, pay more. Becoming a standard feature makes FSD licensing more attractive to other automakers. The per mile rate can be tweaked to balance fleet FSD use, capability, and revenue.

The FSD license should have gone to the driver and not the car this whole time.

Another big savings and you didn’t mention it is brakes. I’ve got a ‘16 MX with 280K+ miles and haven’t changed brakes.
I am unusual because of highway driving but Teslas should be able to go 2 or 3x longer before replacing them. A few hundred $ savings over ICE cars a year.

… it’s nice to know that you can transfer your FSD again! The nice lady from TESLA called me and asked me if I wanted to do that, by the end of next month. I don’t know about you, but I need a little more time to get that money together, so I had to tell her no. Thanks, TESLA but no thanks.

Tesla needs to make the FSD attach to the driver profile, does not make sense otherwise.

I looked into upgrading from our low mileage model Y 2020. The trade in offered was about 10k under the used prices I am seeing for the same. So FSD transfer is not compelling given the low prices they are offering.

FSD transfers doesn't appear to apply to the new Model 3, or even the old left in stock Model 3. Dealbreaker for me.

So can you buy a used Tesla S with free supercharging and fsd… and then flip it and transfer it to a new model Y?

I currently have enhanced autopilot on my M3, if I paid $6000 more. I can get FSD and transfer it to my highland M3. But I’m also trading my current M3 to Tesla, do you think that would affect the trade in value of my M3?
