Transfer Tesla Ownership | step by step guide

If you're selling or even buying a Tesla, this simple guide walks you through the steps to transfer the car from one account to the other.

In our experience the process takes only a couple of minutes and requires no involvement of Tesla staff, it's all done via the Tesla app and responding to a few emails.

The recipient of the car must already have created a Tesla account as the email address of this account will be required.

Came to a dealership I can’t do a factory reset because they don’t have that person email or anything it stayed logged in from previous owner idk how to connect the vehicle to myself

Because the buyer is also paying off lien and likely won’t have title for days, should they still start a Tesla account and do this transfer
