How to install and configure windows server 2019 NPS as RADIUS

In this video I will take a look at Installing Configuring Troubleshooting Windows Server 2019 NPS as RADIUS to step through the installation and configuration and look at a few troubleshooting areas to note.
The process to install the Network Policy Server in Windows Server 2019 is very straightforward. It is simply a matter of installing the Network Policy Server role in Windows Server. This is simply a next, next, finish process without even having to perform a Windows reboot. The NPS component is found under the Server Roles portion of the Add Roles and Features wizard.

One of the first things you want to do when getting the RADIUS server configured is to setup the Connection Request Policies and the Network Policies. What is the difference between the two?

Connection Request Policies – Connection request policies are sets of conditions and settings that allow designating which RADIUS servers perform the authentication and authorization of connection requests recevied from RADIUS clients.

Network policies are sets of conditions, constraints, and settings that allow designating who is authorized to connect to the network and the circumstances under which they can or can’t connect.

NTRadPing is a Radius Server Testing Tool.

As an MSP Admin, this is extremely valuable info! This enables SO MUCH manageability by using Windows Server as a RADIUS. You get all the glory and manageability Active Directory provides and unifies your VPN component for a client with using their domain accounts. You don't have to setup unique separate accounts for each VPN user. You simply add the user to a VPN group you created in AD Users & Computers, and BAM! Now your client can use their domain accounts as the login credentials for VPN access. It's so easy to setup with tons of flexibility that surpasses using just the firewall as the VPN manager.

Hello! Just a quick question since I'm having a problem with a lab. When you use PEAP and MSchapV2, you're required to use a certificate?
I'm asking this since when the supplicant tries to connect, there's a message that denies the access. When I look in the event logger in the windows server I find the following message.
"The client could not be authenticated because the Extensible Authentication Protocol (EAP) Type cannot be processed by the server."
I already disable the option for the certificate to not be required, but I was wondering if the windows server needs to have a certificate to present to the clients.
Thanks in advance for any comments on this!

Hello,
What happens when a rouge user connects their PC to a lan port in the office will the AD RADIUS reject and force them to authenticate first ?

Hi,

We started to use Windows11 and cannot connect to WiFi anymore. From Win10 all works. Seems, that there are problems with DC certificate, but we are not sure. How to solve this problem? Can we have many RADIUS servers in production?
