TNG Enterprise Flyby

Another HD flyby testshot - this time with our High Res "Next Generation" Enterprise D.

Another great piece of work!
I've noticed Tobias did one thing here that's only on CG versions of the Enterprise-D: the saucer auxiliary impulse engines are always on. In the motion control shots of both the ILM (TV series/GENERATIONS) and Greg Jein (TV series 3rd-7th seasons) shooting models they are off unless the saucer is under its own power, otherwise it's only the dorsal (main) impulse engine that's supposed to be on.

That is correct, my model was used in some shots of the HD remaster.

Wish I could send this to anyone who has ever said, "The Galaxy Class design was fine for TV, but not cinematic enough for the big screen." Even on a reduced budget, and working with a refurbished 6-foot model, the Enterprise-D looked great in Generations. Would've loved to see what kind of camera work could have been done by building a friendlier shooting model or a CG model.

The lighting is a bit drab compared to your usual videos, but the modelling is impeccable as ever.

Is it just me, or did anyone else notice a "smilie" in the Aztec pattern just below the second "C" on the upper primary hull? It's too perfect and obvious to be a mistake!

Or maybe I've just been looking at CGI models for too long.

Can someone explain why they didn't use this for "These are the Voyages..."? The 1701-D model they had in the episode didn't look anywhere near as good as this one does.

Didn’t CBS Digital use your CGI double for certain shots in which they didn’t have all of the original elements?

that kicks the crap out of these are the voyages. Not that i really care for that episode, but when it comes to blu-ray, it should use this instead.
