I think the only thing social media should be used for is: finding people to meet in person, business, learning. The point of it should be as a tool to benefit life not become your life.

Actually YouTube is now the worst for me. I can't watch anything "self help" without getting a bunch of vids telling me I'm a piece of shit for not working 100 hours and ect....

Use youtube to learn, choose ONE message app for friends and communication. Disable all news updates from your phone. Avoid any app that has that swipe scroll function. Be aware of the bad side. Embrace the good side.

Most inportantly, communicate with people in the real world. Be grateful for their presence. If you care about someone, tell them. Change one persons day, everyday.

Protip: uninstall the apps you use in an unhealthy way from your phone/devices.

I noticed I start by using some of them for healthy and valuable activities but the devolve over time. Uninstalling resets the cycle and over time they are uninstalled when they are just a waste of time and before they get harmful.

Screen timers help a lot, and sitting with the urge to delete/increase the timer length when it inevitably comes up, breathing through it and seeing how I feel after that helps with keeping the timers intact.

It's 5:30 am. I'm getting out of bed and I'm watching this. I don't think I should be watching this right now. It did stop me going back to sleep though and its probably like turning the radio on.

I saw an interesting documentary on social media, where they interviewed engineers who worked on algorithms for some of the big players. *And* - I saw it first-hand with one of my brother's f3male friends, in. 2013? She arrived 45 minutes late to a Super Bowl party. She sat down just to the right of the screen. *She spent the entire evening in her cell phone, on Facebook.." She didn't watch any of the game, none of the ads, nor socialized with any of the roughly two dozen people there.

That's great but the solutions for everything these days are allways meditation, exercise and healthy eating. Someone who can do all these doesn't have any problems to begin with.
