Factor and solve trig equation with sin(theta)
Показать описание
In this math example, we solve a trigonometric equation of the quadratic type that involves sine (sinx). We approach this problem by first using a "Let" statement to replace each sine with x. This makes our equation look like a quadratic equation that most are more comfortable with solving. We choose to use factoring by the AC method. Each factor is then set equal to zero and solved for x. Then we bring our sine back into the problem by replacing x by again using our "Let" statement. Sine now equals some fairly common ratios that come up regularly. One requires a quadrantal angle and the other gives an angle in the 1st quadrant. The value from the 1st quadrant is used as a reference angle and placed into an appropriate 2nd quadrant that will also produce the same ration when evaluated in the sine function.
