Recorded: 7th Oct. 1963, De Lane Lea Studios, London. Producer: Eric Easton.
The Stones released "Stoned" as the B-side of "I Wanna Be Your Man" - 1st Nov. 1963 (2nd 7" Single).
It was the first song released to be credited to "Nanker Phelge" and the band's first original composition.
Some pressings of the 7" Single misstate the B-side title as "Stones".

Great early instrumental by the Stones[Some earlier pressings of this single were mistakenly spelled as "Stones", believe it or not, on the flip to their rendering of Lennon-McCartney's "I Wanna Be Your Man", which they did a great job on!]. Great harp playing by Brian, excellent guitar break by Keef, superb ivory jangling by Stu and not to forget Charlie's drumming. RIP to Brian, Stu & Charlie.

I love this quasi-instrumental 12 bar blues! Valiant early effort by the Rolling Stones!

We heard the Stones were playing at Sophia Gardens in Cardiff, 1963 or 1964 ? We did not have tickets but went down any way. As we walked along Cowbridge Rd, there was a VW bus pulled up at one of the smaller park gates, with a guy rattling the gates as if to get in. One of the people in the bus turned round to look at us, it was Brian Jones! Right then the guy who had been at the gate came back to get in the VW, and said "Excuse me" in an obvious English accent! It was Mick! They reversed out to look for the prper entrance.
We ended up at the stage door, and for a few brief moments, we could see them on stage, from behind! performing 'Stoned' . Years later I checked the play lists for the concerts they did there, and this does not appear! Was it because it was banned?
