I was considering buying a switch lately.
I was looking at the cheap ones, but with VLAN support, like:

- TP-LINK TL-SG108E
- ZyXEL GS1200-5
- Ubiquiti USW Flex Mini

What I don't understand about this switch (Ubiquiti USW Flex Mini) is why they don't advertise much the VLAN support.
They have it as a side-note in its specs, while other brands brag about it.
Some resellers don't even mention it!
Is the implementation lacking something?

Also, I am deeply disappointed seeing that (probably) all of the above switches have the management interface NOT protected with HTTPS/SSL/TLS and they don't allow you to restrict the access to the management interface to only one VLAN.
This practically means that they don't care about security at all (I wonder why they even bothered supporting VLANs in the first place...) and that you should buy a more expensive switch for that job.
And this is crazy, because those things only require software changes!
This situation is the same with this switch as well, isn't it?

I've had a hard time configuring vlans coming from this switch as the switch itself completely shuts down. Also there is no function to power cycle the port.

I’ve got two of these on order. They seem to be extremely popular as stock isn’t arriving until next month. Would you be able to do a video on how to setup a UAP till attach to a remote controller? I’ve seen Willie Howe’s video but it’s still a little complex for my skill set. Thanks

just to clearify...what you created is not really a wireless bridge. you just taken a wireless AP and you configured it to work as a repeater!!! (major difference). configuring an AP as a repeater works but you automatically "lose" 50% of the AP bandwidth (50% goes to communicating with uplink device and 50% are available for connecting devices be it wireless endpoint or your flex mini switch
