Michael, I got to tell you, I used to sell cars early 2000s and I was really good at it. With tirekickers like that we used to have a Honda manager that was our "closer". He was old skool Italian and very much like that when he couldn't close the deal out for us. Hilarious! His name was Joe and I could swear that he was involved with the street life when he was younger😂

I sold cars for 5 or so years after college. For the first year, I wanted to be a new kind of salesman. Low pressure, easy going, informative. The problem is that doesn't work. If you're nice, they go to the next lot and a real salesman gets ahold of them and they get the commission, not you. They do it because it works. It took me about a year to learn that, but I learned it.

I could never act that entitled.
I remember buying a bed of all things and I went back and forth between 2 places trying to find the best deal. I honestly felt bad for taking up the time of the place I didn't buy from. It wasn't an hour, but it was probably 20-30 minutes total. Don't get me wrong! Im not a sucker who will buy for fear of hurting the salesperson's feelings, but I felt bad because both were good deals, just that one was better.

I really wanted to buy a car one time but a voice in my head kept saying things like, “it’s expensive”, “you don’t really need it”….etc. I actually needed someone to counteract those negative voices because I really wanted it. The nice salesman took me over to the closer and he totally talked me out of all my excuses one by one. I was happy to drive home with the car soon after. The guy did me a favor. I loved that car and now my nephew has it and it still runs great.
