I have recently achieved a new level of appreciation for bass players. As far as I know, they basically channel the drums and guitar, in the sense that it keeps the beat, but also supports the guitar, at the same time, sure it is simple to play some songs on a bass, but to create basslines and find a way to play the melody from the guitar, and pair it with the drums, is a whole new level of skill.
