If they said Ben and David couldn’t film then they should have banned ALL THE OTHER passengers from taking pictures and filming too.

Hey Tony! My issue with MSC is that they had questioned Ben and David about their YouTube channel multiple times before the banning. Ben and David said that they were not allowed to film anywhere on the ship! We do not believe MSC's response in any form.

I went back and watched about 5 of Ben and Davids videos; skipping around to find people they have filmed. In most cases you may see someone a table or so away, but nothing to get upset over. They will often film a wide angle shot of the bar or restaurant areas where you see people. Those guys are making videos about the ship and are professional. If there was a problem MSC should have brought it up discretely and requested them to edit out the person or be aware of the issue. MSC will lose this one.

About the MSC thing? My niece and I went on our first MSC cruise, and a gentleman was filming my niece outside the restaurant and even jumped into a photo with her with one of the professional photographers. We complained and got told "Oh. Well. Cultural differences" and "We'll he took photos with me. I'm on his phone too." And then we were brushed off. Guess I need to be yacht club to be taken seriously.

I don’t care how cheaply MSC offers cruising, I’ve heard/read enough to know I won’t ever sail with them. Why risk it? Why reward them?

a VERY important person isn't sailing on a 5000 person ship. They're on a private yacht.

MSC’s response to Ben & David isn’t good enough. I get asking them to put the small hand held camera away, but to say no pictures or filming on a smartphone is ridiculous

I totally believe Ben & David were targeted because of their previous video. I’m calling MSC reply BS even if someone complained they could have said not to film while there were other passengers around.

Msc is full of it! I saw the video, and the manager was totally rude! David and Ben also asked if they could take regular pictures, and they refused to let them.

If you're going to remove B&D's camera, then remove all cameras. Very weak response.

Given the exclusivity of Yacht Club I believe there might have been a complaint. Having said that they handled it very poorly, they could have simply said you can film outside of the Yacht Club but not inside or something like that.

I would be concerned about Haiti, if they can break out of the prison, they can certainly break into labadee

If what MSC said were true, management could EASILY have said, “hey, we have received a complaint about you recording. You can continue to record, but please make sure there isn’t anyone else in the shot.” That’s not a difficult conversation to have. Ben & David might still have been upset, they might have thought that was too restrictive, and they might have still gotten off the ship, but at least MSC would have been on the right footing.

Personally, I think MSC lacks customer service training, their crew have been known to over react, being aggressive or rude unnecessarily in various situations. Part of it could be the European culture that they are in general not as warm and fuzzy, but I think the crew in YC might have over reacted when they saw the negative review from B&D and worried about being fired if they released another negative review based on their services. Or they over did the order of “protect the privacy of someone important” and decided to be rude and banned B&D filming altogether. I can list at least 3 examples that the MSC crew didn’t act appropriately, one is my own experience so I am not surprised about this incident.

If it was a policy issue Ben and David would have been told to stop on the first day. And no matter what, they should have been treated politely. They could learn something about being discreet from B&D.

They said they handled it poorly?!?! You think? They only think that because there is backlash, MSC thought they had all the power and found out differently.
