RTX 40 Performance & Specs - GROUNDBREAKING New Tech Revealed | DLSS 3 & RTX 4090 & 4090

Nvidia FINALLY had their BEYOND GEFORCE event, where the next gen RTX 40 Lovelace GPUs were revealed. Well, the RTX 4080 12GB and RTX 4080 16GB variants were unveiled, including specs, release date, power consumption, and MSRP price as well as some performance numbers. They also revealed several GROUNDBREAKING pieces of technology, including DLSS 3, RTX Remix and shader execution reordering, among other things.

We examine DLSS 3, the benchmarks Nvidia released for DLSS 3, ray tracing, gaming and creation for the RTX 4080 and RTX 4090. With the price being higher being more than many expected, will AMD aim to undercut them with RDNA 3? And just how does the gaming and ray tracing performance of both the RTX 4080 and RTX 4090 compare to all the rumours and leaks? We examine the official ray tracing and gaming performance numbers and more to give you our thoughts on RTX 40.

Groundbreaking for sure, when Linus drops it.

It's impressive how Nvidia managed to make every single one of their GPUs unappealing price-wise in the EU. The RTX 4090 for example is starting at 1900 euros, while the 4080 16G is starting at 1450 euros.

Cool tech, terrible awful pricing. The 4070 (4080 12GB) costs 1099 euro in my country. That's gonna be a nope for me.

Nvidia has somehow created a market where literally every card is unappealing at it's price. And managed to make the damn 4090 look worth it.

It's unacceptable that Nvidia is selling a 4070 series die (104) for $900 and calling it a 12gb 4080 when it's NOT. Then selling a 16gb 4080 regular vastly cut down not even top 103 die for $1200 (when they're going to have the full 103 die for next years super refresh). Even the 4090 is cut down more than usual leaving room for not just 4090ti, but ALSO a Titan which they didn't have in 3000 series

NVIDIA literally increased the 3080 to 4080 launch msrp by $500. OMG from $699 to $1200

This generation of nVidia cards leaves a lot to be desired. At the end of the video (13:50) there is a chart with ‘new’ (aka nonexistent) games vs todays games. For today’s games - which is all that matters as those are the only ones people can actually buy and play today - the performance only hits 2x the 3090ti in one cherry picked game, approaches 2x in another, and then 1.5x-1.75x in everything else. And at 450W?! And at the prices they’re charging for the 4090? Hard pass.

As for the 4080… the 16GB version is not bad, but still overpriced. However there’s a pretty steep drop in performance in everything except Flight Simulator (likely hitting a CPU bottleneck across all the cards). By the time we get down to the 12GB version, the drop in performance is so steep that the 3090ti beats it most of the time, and those 3090ti’s are going for around $800 right now on eBay.

Like, basically we’re at a point where there is zero price to performance improvement below the $1, 000 price point. That’s completely unacceptable from nVidia, and the rest of the lineup - when it’s eventually released - is going to be dead on arrival unless prices come down significantly.

I definitely broke my ground, with my head, when I saw those prices.

The fact that you didn't call out the 4070 12GB @$900 for what it is was quite disappointing Paul. But I guess it is "Exciting" for You.

8:38 The 12gb version IS the 4070 and IS launching this year. I don't care what they call it. 192 bit bus for 900$ lol. I remember when I bought my 330$ 970. I guarantee you AIB models will be more near that 1000$ price tag which used to be Titan. 300% increase in 8 years. That's not inflation. It's margins and greed.

Real EU prices are.
4080 12 gb =1099€ not 899
4080 16 gb =1469€ not 1099
4090 24 gb =1949€ not 1550

So this is a Desaster incl. 450 ++ watt TDP.

🥇🤦‍♂️

Lack of displayport 2.0 is very saddening. 3090/3090ti are already capable of saturating 48gbs hdmi 2.1 and that means the 40 series will be throttled by lack of io and not capable of going beyond 4k 120hz 10bit.

4080 12 gb is only called a 4080 because nvidia wants to charge $900. $900 for a 70 class card is insane. But call it an 80 class and suddenly it's forgiven.

As a Linux user, I've always had a high end Nvidia, and I've been grateful in the past for the support they provided, but at this stage, I'm just done with them, and it's a real shame, . I doubt I'm the first to say that they are just too hard to work with.... Will be AMD or Intel from here on in...

I think AMD is gonna really target the 4080 16/12gb. If they can produce a card that equals the performance at a lower power consumption and price and have 16gb, well there on a winner.

I sincerely hope nvidia keeps driving up these prices. So the "money isn’t any issue people" will be the only ones that can afford, since they are the ones that have let things get this far anyway

You're right to suggest we wait Paul. There's no way Nvidia has not been dodgy with their figures. It's not the first time.

Paul always looks like he just drove a red dodge ram threw a tornado.

An 80 class card with less than half the cores of the 102 die, not even the 100. This is a low end card at a higher price than the flagships used to be

You can be hyped for the tech whatever you want and that's OK. I'm super-hyped for the next Buggati too. But, in the end of the day, what matters is the price. I remember getting flack for buying a RTX 2080 Ti for €1000 when the previous 1080 Ti cost €700. I knew it was not that simple. 2080Ti had RT and DLSS - I still have it, it "rips through most games @1440p with high frame-rates" 4 years later! This new 4000 cards got an even higher price jack with less innovation - sure DLSS 3 seems cool but, is a form of interpolation nonetheless and we all know how interpolation can be jarring so, DLSS 3 is a tech unproven to say the least and DLSS 2 is already doing a great job for me @4K gaming. The 80 went from $700 to $1200 minimum; the 4080 12Gb is for allpurposes, a 4070 with a 4080 name slapped on it that went from $500 to $900. If nothing happens to prices untill then, when the 4070(that's really a 4060) releases it will cost $700! And the 4060 (4050 really) will cost $500! I am NOT hyped at all! In fact, I still keep my 2080Ti for another 2 years in my second rig and upgrade to the $380 RTX 3080 10Gb I just bought!
