You’ve been one of my favorite creators for many years. Deeply appreciate the knowledge and perspectives on so many different fronts.

I use this in my greenhouse in the winter. Keeps the temp a good 20-25 degrees warmer than outside, just enough to prevent my baby plants from freezing ❤

Like your chatty, cheeky style of narration. You're the best. Cheers from New Zealand 🍻

Hey Rob, the next step could be improving the combustion, maybe adding a chimney for airdraft and adding a top exaust accelerator or simply cowls will do that

Where would I get the graphite to coat the pot with?

I tried this with a 6kg graphite crucible and a single 8 hour tealight candle. Wow! It started to feel warm almost immediately. I burned it for about 2 hours. The flame was quite small because it wasn't getting enough oxygen the way I had it. Despite this it still put out far more heat than a standard terra cotta pot.

What type of graphite did you use, liquid or powder? What do you recommend?

I wouldn’t use graphite tho if you have pets that might rub against.. wrapping in copper wire or even aluminum foil would be great cheap conductors to radiate infrared heat. Plus Al foil can be fashioned into multiple veins coming off to really propagate the heat even better

I noticed that you only coated the outside of the pot. I wonder if coating the inside of the pot as well would increase the heat output?

I love what you did but you may want to do some research on the graphite. Thank you again for helping warm our lives!

How to make graphite powder to stick to surface?

You're Antony Hopkins brother. Why would you need this?

so the heat is being radiated away(in IR), as opposed to being absorbed into the pot ?
I would have thought the pot heating air by convection was the whole idea? what am I missing ?
would be interesting to see thermal images of both, and ambient temperate surrounding area..
Thanks Rob

Keep in mind that building policy in a lot of places in the last 20 to 30 years have been eliminating and prohibiting the necessity that we all call a fireplace. In a lot of places you are not allowed to build a fireplace in a home anymore. You can bet that if the gas gets turned off and the power goes out that a lot of people are going to burn their own houses down because they just don't know what a fireplace means until they really need one, and they will mess it up.
