THE ROBOTAXI! It’s só clear that, ‘cause they'll need the easiest way to charge all the fleet without any human intervention.

Fits into the long term strategy - one of the most pressing use cases will be recharging driverless taxies. A lot easier than trying to work out how to plug themselvels in

Having wireless charging would make sense for a robotaxi fleet

The comment about the wireless efficiency is great to hear.

This would be awesome, I hope it develops quickly and can be deployed to consumers in short order. Wireless auto charging will be quickly accepted by the coustomers.

Wireless recharging will add weight to the vehicle. That's because the existing charging connector and hardware will need to be retained for use when no wireless recharging is available. It would also be interesting to learn how well the system can handle V2G. An inverter would be needed for this, within the car, to generate the high power wireless waveform to feed into the coupling coils.

These wireless charge pads will be relatively low cost and will be built into the highest volume cars and robotaxi fleet cars, not expensive, low volume cars. You may be able to purchase them later and have them retro fitted to the older cars.

Wholeheartedly agree that the potential uses are not purely to make it easy for lazy people to charge, it would also be ideal for mass transit systems like buses and trains running on fixed routes where a small battery could be used for efficiency and cost savings and given a booster charge at stops

The convenience level just went up a notch! 🌟⚡

This technology might find good use in charging stations at say Costo, Apartment complex in addition to Tobo-taxi similar to how Rumba goes to the home station to charge.
Any idea on how much did Tesla pay for this private company? Was it a cash deal or stock deal?

I would love to see this for the Cybertruck. Trucks this size are often not parked inside peoples’ garages. I would love to have a wireless mat that I could drive and park over to avoid the need to install a pedestal or a wall charger that my wife would simply hate.

I think that lvl 2 chargers should be placed at locations where people spend a lot of time shopping or whatever they do, for example, grocery shopping or at a movie theater. It would be cheaper to deploy, less damaging to the battery compared to a lvl 3 charger, and would make sense for people who would want to top of their range between locations

The company focuses on low power charging of industrial factory robots. This seems clearly intended to bolster their gigafactories and not for the cars at this time as you had explained

Wireless is less efficient, but would be GREAT for autonomous equipment and Level 2 charging for small fleet vehicles.

All I can say is FANTASTIC but remember the price is the key

You can't Supercharge (DC) by induction.

Wireless charging would eliminate the risk of tampering. If you park at a charger and go have dinner, some person can unplug the charger and you would get a phone alert and have to run outside potentially getting into a dangerous situation

What if Tesla is using these for the bots too?

The bot walks over to a station to work and can charge while working

Hi, John more goodies for the machine that builds the machine ✔️ Tesla may use to charge specialized parts EV to help the machine run more efficiently and more moving forward to the future ✔️🖖

This technology will sell like hot cakes provided it’s not too expensive.
