My first thought on this is whether those with medical implants (cochlear implants, pacemakers, insulin pumps, etc) impacted by wireless charging. Some are told to avoid strong wireless sources, that could impact the function of their implants.

I think the Volkswagen group did some work on this and managed to hit 270kw at 95% efficiency as part of a lab test bed. It would be interesting to see how heavy the receiver coil would need to be for that type of energy exchange. I think Tesla have only talked about home chargers (7ke ish)

For Teslas only.
Unless, as you say, some form of contactless payment system is used.
Maybe a shared card reader for several charging pads?
Hopefully there will be only one induction charger system, so that we don't end up with the present CCS and Chademo problem.

Would have a big impact for buses and taxis. Each time a bus pulls up at the bus stop it gets a charge whilst the passengers get on and off etc

Interesting about inductive charging working without drop in efficiency with a gap of up to 12”. The question is what happens if something or somebody gets into that gap whilst charging is in progress?

Do you imagine that there will be a retrofit available for Tesla cars that are of a newer vintage in all this charging revolution, or will legacy cars just be S.O.L.?

Currently the max charge rate is about 25kW so for the small battery cybercab it will take a couple of hours.
It should increase in the future but it high powered chargers will be here for decades.

You clearly have no technical comprehension of system losses.

I knew it they would come up with wireless charging would be great.

Interestingly, regarding underground charging systems Kempower and Proviridis announced yesterday a 600kW truck charger with all the charger switchgear placed underground to protect from trucks driving into overground units. Only the tethered CCS2 combo cable is above ground stored in a channel in the side parking bay guardrail pipes.

My phone heats up loads wireless charging! Can't imagine 300kw going through

More high power electronics might be needed in the car. You can't send energy via an inductive system without it being an alternating current system. This has to be converted back into DC to charge the battery. Maybe they intend to use the existing 50/60 hz system but I would think much higher frequency AC would be needed for a fast, high power inductive coupled system.

I fully agreed when you pointed at the Tesla icon and said "that can go, that can go and that can go". Screw Musk, and Tesla-owning supporters.

Wireless charging, especially installed in multiple bays in city centre car parks in ULEZ surrounded cities will be a game changer. A couple of rows in every supermarket car park will be the next ‘nudge’ to switch people to electric cars.

Combine this with the cull of petrol forecourts sold off in the UK as brown field sites for housing developments and this will hasten the demise of ICE vehicles.

All the government needs to do is remove the barriers to sub £20k electric cars being imported from China, . Then stop councils banning recharging cable cross pavements and the switch will accelerate at an unstoppable rate.

Whatever you are negative about, why not research for yourself rather than wondering. It is simple. Wireless charging vehicle and hearing aid. Search. You will get your answer.

Sounds great - we’ll probably get 2 or 3 in the UK in the next 4-5 years 😮

What will happen to older electric cars without wireless charging capability Dave.

Wireless is telecommunications, cordless is power supply. Power cord or cable is the correct use of the word. So it should be cordless charging not wireless charging.

All teslas existing will become obsolete too, unless retrofitted with the inductive receiver. I expect the tesla v3 and 4 stalls will be around for a while?
