BMW has a way of making extra weight disappear on their (heavy) bikes. I've had a K1100RS, R850RT, a 1200GSA and now a K1600GTL and they're all heavy bikes, but as soon as you start riding, the weight magically seems to disappear. You feel the weight when doing low speed turns, but never to the extent that you got the feeling of fighting the bike. It's all very smooth. The engines too; lots of torque at low revs, always ready to get off. People who never ridden a big BMW won't understand. You really got to ride one to appreciate the easy handling.
Also, lots of people misunderstand the GSA in general, or maybe better: have a wrong expectation of it. It's a travel enduro. Probably the best allround touring bike BMW has. You can travel long distances very comfortable and fast, take a lot of luggage and two up is no problem. What the offroad aspect concerns: yes, it's a heavy bike, but what do you want? Do you want to cross the desert, do hardcore offroad over tiny single tracks? Then the GSA is probably not the right bike. BMW never meant it to be that bike. It's a bike that can do a lot, probably more than the average rider can do. I've seen guys take a GSA through deep sand without a problem, so the bike it not the problem in most cases. The GSA enables you to travel comfortable and take on many road types, you can go throught the forest and whatnot. You can do that on basically every bike, but for rough terrain you need ground clearance, a bash plate for protection and good suspension travel. The GSA is perfect for it's purpose, even if you never plan to go offroad. Most people with a S1000RR never take it to the track. It's not mandatory, is it? You can travel with a RT too, but the GS(A) gives riding that extra dimension, and takes the potholes a bit better...

Sorry for making you burn your leg 😮. Thanks for the shout out. I’m pretty specific on the content I watch but I can tell you, your on air personality is off the charts 🎉

4:34 different nationalities, different languages, different latitudes, different motorcycles - and the dangers are the same everywhere ;)

Awesome time mate. Lot of fun watching the coast rides on big screen, and I think the GSA is growing on me more than the GS.

A good review, looked like a "fun" route, with the usual Smokey craziness.

Smokey, great vid!
Two questions:
1. Can you ride 3-5kmh on 6th gear in manual? Or will ASA shift down to lower gears?
2. Can you fev to cut off in manual? Or will ASA shift up?

Okay, I have a question. I have an NT1100 2024, and this adventure bike has really caught my attention to the point that I’m considering buying it. I’m primarily a road rider. I’m very interested in how it handles wind protection with the windshield at higher speeds. I’m 184 cm tall

Previous model also had electronic suspension, so that should not be used as a reason for the weight?

Hey there Smokey
Wish you could make detailed comparison between the new Triumph tiger 1200 rally explorer and the new BMW 1300 gsa.

Would be great to hear it from a pro like you.

Looking forward for the video
