As an owner of a R 1300 GS MY 2024 with rear radar system, can I upgrade my motorbike with rear collision warning (RECW) in 2025 when its available as a software or hardware upgrade?

I think the rear collision warning system has only been developed because they removed the rear brake light!! BMW are crazy to have removed it. Its removal (and the new light cluster front and rear) is the main reason why I have not upgraded to the R1300. I'm very happy with my R1200 and don't fancy riding a bike that risks my life in traffic.

I welcome the added functionality of the automated gear system, while maintaining the manual "gear shifter". However, removing the clutch lever is a big problem for me. I often use this lever to modulate power in a way that the throttle twist grip cannot do by itself, for example for rapid decoupling of power-at-rear-wheel without engine brake effect nor stalling in emergency situations. I don't combine throttle with shift lever always, but I'm afraid this 2025 model will remove an entire dimension of throttle, power, rpm and traction otherwise made possible with shift lever + throttle grip modulation.

I want to buy a GS next year and I would like an independent brake light.
I don't expect to have to pay an extra few hundred pounds on top of what is already a very expensive bike, to make the rear brake system safe!!
So many people are unhappy with the combined brake and indicator lights, and for a good reason.
So please listen to us!

I would like a separate switch for the heated seats and grips, and a simpler menu on the TFT to make it less distracting to find the basics when riding.

I would like back lit switches!!!

I would like the choice to have the forged light weight wheels (and standard cast wheels) in gold, not just black.

I think I am finally ready to sell my R1200GS ;) Any plans for illuminated switches for night riding in the future?

@bmwmotorrad can you share more details about the combined adaptive rider height and sports suspension? I’m assuming the lowered height is a bit taller if it is paired with sports suspension vs not having the sports suspension? I’m a 5’6” rider but almost exclusively ride off road so this is something I’d love to learn more about.

I have few questions:
1. Are the automatic gearbox will be an option in the GS model or only in the adv model?
2. In a busy road could I shift to neutral or should I wait in the first gear?
3. When the r1300gs 2025 intended to be published?

You may consider making the fuel tank a little bigger. 5 to 6 gallons.And the cloth lever is a must.

Presently I ride an Africa Twin DCT but I’ve ridden thousands of kilometers on a BMW RT. The automatic shifter is interesting but, do gear changes still have that “trademark” hammer-in-an-oil drum clunk? The rear warning system is brilliant, a rider I know may not be in a wheelchair had his bike been so equipped. That said my feeling is, to address failure anxiety, all these “new” electronic devices should come with a ten year warranty. Does BMW have that degree of faith in their innovations? Thanks!
