If skateboarding is too hard for you, you could try it with friends. I'm very new to skateboarding and it's 10 times better when I skate with friends. Btw good video

I couldn't agree with your first point more. Sure, you might find a small tip that could potentially stop you from doing something wrong, but the best way to properly learn a trick is to try it over and over again, while attempting it slightly differently with each try until you find what works. Eventually you'll put it all together and be able to do the trick consistently.

There's really no "secret" to doing any trick; it's just a game of physics where you're trying to maneuver the board in a certain way with your feet.

A great quote is "if you keep doing what you've always done, you'll keep getting what you've always gotten".

RELATED TO THE FIRST TRUTH:
As he says, do not rely too much on the magic tip, the one that will solve your problems.
What you should do is focusing really hard on what you are doing. By that i mean: for example you are trying to learn the ollie but you struggle to get the tail up. So when you try actually focus with your mind and try to picture in your head not how the correct ollie is done but how YOU are doing it, this way you can think "oh hey, i didn't lift my back foot high enough" or "I think my front foot is way too forward". Don't just focus on what you SHOULD do, focus on what you are doing as well. Because that is the real way you are gonna find what you are doing wrong and you'll be able to correct it. Of course for you to understand what you are doing wrong you have to know what you should do, but the basic knowledge is enough. From there, it's all up to you!

So true. I have been skating for 8 Months and I started with shitty Walmart board. Didn't have a real board 4 months in and I didn't complain about it My parents didn't have the money to buy me one so I always ask for boards from older skaters and I pretty happy about it. Now I am skating with better people than me and I can Heelflip Kickflip Varial heel Laser flip all basic tricks underflip Nollie heel now working on switch stance more tricks there I also learned tre flip and still working on it. I Dropped in the 9 Feet Bowl. And much more. I also sprained my both ankles like 5 times but not that bad. Now really want to learn tricks on round flatbars. One thing I learned from Skating is COMMIT and Have passion about it and never give up.

I dont rely too much on trick tips or. "How to land ____ every try" or and an easy way to do it. I like watching skate vids on instagram and just seeing how other people do it and then try it on my own. Like sean said just getting an idea of it. If i know the basic motion of the trick but still not landing it, at that point its just practice and commitment.I Film myself and see what im doing wrong. Dont give up. Everyone has a different foot position to every trick. Like 3 shuvs some like to put their foot in the middle or others like to be right behind the bolts. Skating is all about having fun. So keep skating <333

Thanks for this Sean, I’ve started to relearn skating in my 30s and still trying to perfect my ollies, getting there slowly but just enjoying being in a board again. I agree though skating with friends is so much better!

One thing that helps me a lot with progression frustration is learning simpler tricks. If you only ollie all day, it'll get boring imho. Check out Sean's simple tricks videos for some great ideas of new tricks that don't need pop(sometimes) or flipping the board. Changing up your tricks is a huge save for me... I got a bit annoyed at kickflips but spent a week learning slappies instead and its an absolute blast.
